Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 14hGrown up Quentin latches onto power and becomes an agent of the state again (like with X-Force in Krakoa), but without people to check him on his bullshit so he goes. He brainwashes himself so much that he even glorifies the Riot at Xaviers. 100
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 15hI think Omega Kids is coming out of this as my surprise favorite. 100
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 20hThis is interesting. Not exactly surprising but it is a twist, and interested to see if Sinister is lying and if not, how it’ll interact with the other series’s 100
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 21hMarvel’s insistence on censoring curse words is a little silly at times. It’s an X-Force book for Pete’s sake, let them say “bitches” 100
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I think I’m usually pretty good at putting to words why I like a story or piece of art, but I’m struggling with this. I alternate my phone lock screen every few days and switched to this cover. I just can’t stop looking at it and thinking about it, Quitely is the absolute greatest. 030
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The Jed Mackay books seem to coalesce to tell the different sides to a story in a compelling way. Moreso, Netho Diaz, Sean Parsons, and Fer Sifuentes knock it out of the park with this page. The art for the whole book is good, but this is definitely the standout page. 100
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Fantomex! This is so over the top and it has Fantomex, which is everything I want out of an X-Force comic 111
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 08/10/2026My friend and I just compared notes, so what's yalls 6 favorite movies of the 2020s 010
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Ryan Stegman is my favorite current Marvel artist. He has a real sense for storytelling, perspective, and acting 111
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Ok so Krakoa was a metaphor for Israel, but moreso in concept than actuality, because they didn’t have to kick anybody out or share Krakoa with anyone other than mutants. Age of Revelation seems to be working as a sequel to Krakoa, addressing the other side of that. 110
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It’s never going to be not weird that they made Xorn real, even though it happened almost immediately after Morrison left 110
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I’m behind on the X-Men comics, so here’s my catch up thread. I’m starting with the entire Age of Revelation Event, in order 111
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Like goddamn what a page. Quitely's always so good with these types of connected panels (I forget the proper term for them), his ability to portray movement and take your eyes naturally from panel to panel is unmatched. Not to mention how great the dialogue is throughout the run. 110
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Here I am, reading New X-Men for a fourth time (it’s what my next blog post is about) 010
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Cinder and Ashe seems to be the type of late 80s comic I like so far. I just wish they’d color Cinder’s skin not so inconsistently. It’s not as bad of a look as giving Arani/Celsius grey skin sometimes in post-crisis Doom Patrol, but still. I also know it’s not Conway or Garcia-Lopez’s fault 220
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I like elseworlds and I like Supergirl. Hopefully this is good 110
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Good comic. Colinet's writing is sweet, I think it kinda gets away from them a little bit but they bring it back. Elsa Charretier knocked it out of the park because she's one of the best out there. I'll read the second volume later, I'm going to go back to my DC catch up 010
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Mixing up my cape comics reading with some creator-owned, currently with The Infinite Loop. I'm new to Pierrick Colinet and I like his writing so far. Elsa Charretier's work is phenomenal, as always. 151
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 21/09/2026If House of X/Powers of X counts, then it's that for sure. If it doesn't, then probably Fall of the Mutants from the Claremont Run. 120
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds was weird because it wasn't connected at all to Final Crisis, 90% of it was the final fight, I've never seen a denser comic in my life, but somehow it still kind of worked. 110
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I think I prefer the more recent Time Trapper retcon 110
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 17/09/2026It is quite frankly unbelievable how hard George Pérez went for Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds. This is the level of complexity and quality the average page of this series has. Nobody ever matched up to him. He was the greatest ever. 152
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Taking a brief detour for some (mostly re)reading of Geoff Johns comics for an essay. Oh boy does he know how to make you hate a character in a page 120
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Si Spurrier and DaNi also killing it on the backups so far. Bringing that British grit I haven’t tasted for a while and killing the 9-panel grid 120
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Evan Cagle is an unbelievably great cover artist. All of his covers I’ve seen for this series are phenomenal 110
Jonah Maple @jo-maple.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Okay now starts my quest to catch up on the past 4 years of Detective Comics Comic's Detective Comics Comic. I know I'm going to at least read the Ram V run, might switch back to other things afterwards, and I'm also in a Malka Older novel right now so it might take a while. 272
