Did a day's stone carving class at the lakeside in Nottingham- based the design on an Anglo Celtic design in the museum next door. Lots of fun, even through the frustration of important bits pinging off. A difficult thing to master! Requiring huge amounts of skill and practice! Who'd have thought!

A freshly carved stone with a mounted figure on it - based on the museum piece in the other image. The loss of material in key areas (on the spear and horse's face) indicates hard lessons learnt in mallet/chisel management.

Southwell minster looking handsome in the sunshine today. Never noticed the sort of wave form dentils (?) on the parapets. I'm assuming they're the same age as a lot of the quite fruity earlier norman/Romanesque relief patterns but could easily be wrong. I could also look it up, but.
