Americans are pissed off at the Trump administration, but the worst kick in the nuts that the GOP had perpetrated won't hit until 2027. If voters really understood what was coming they'd be rioting in the streets […]

One more reason for everyone in California to vote Yes-No-No on propositions 40-41-42. No one should have this kind of political power.

and it's cratering at the box office. kinda looks like the studios are neglecting to promote it. probably the most overtly political movie of 2026, artistically brilliant, and nobody is going to see it.

It seems JD Vance wants to apply some kind of ideological litmus test to who is and isn't an American. It makes me think we should just start over again by having every person take the same civics exam that every naturalized American is required to pass. I suspect we would disqualify the entire […]

oh yes
bluesky thread by Dan O'Sullivan:
"Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.
I should add that in addition to being much funnier than anticipated--Musk is going to be intensely humiliated by this movie, it's going to attack the deepest wounds he tries so hard to conceal--it is also bone-chilling. I think he gutted USAID with DOGE to kill masses of people in the third world.
I should also add that when the movie got to showing people burning Teslas and vandalizing dealerships, the theater of mostly older folks in Santa Monica started applauding. I think it is possible Trump and Musk turned libs over 50 into John Brown.
There's a moment early on that's just footage of Elon Musk balding and in khakis walking down an office hallway in the late 90s and the entire audience burst out laughing. If Musk is made aware of audience reactions like this I think he might actually crash out.

The Trump press ban is proving to be his own personal Gulf of Hormuz. What it really means is that the oligarchs who have bought out US media over the past decade are no longer afraid of retribution. That's a very interesting change.

I remember the first time I heard the phrase "It's all good." It was at a rave in 1998. I was like: what are you talking about? Surely it can't be *all* good. But ... what if it is? What if everything is actually good? *mind blown.*

One of the things I enjoyed about Mike Duncan's Revolutions podcast is that he is overtly judgmental about historical figures. Not for ideology, but for competence. From that perspective, we are definitely on the wrong side of history.
