You are correct. Positron includes a way to sign into Connect already (Publisher) but those credentials do not currently propagate into your R session. I've filed that here: github.com/posit-dev/po...

The Settings tab in RStudio is using the rsconnect R package behind the scenes. Positron doesn't have the same settings tab, but you can accomplish the same thing RStudio is doing by calling rsconnect directly -- at the R console, run `rsconnect::addServer()` with the URL of your Connect instance.

Depends a bit on your environment! You can use rsconnect::addServer() to add your Connect server, or Positron's environment variables setting to add CONNECT_SERVER and CONNECT_API_KEY to your console. If that doesn't do what you need, we'd love to hear more details here: github.com/posit-dev/po...

Yes, it it does auto-install Pyrefly; it is bundled with Positron since it powers much of Positron's Python diagnostics, etc. If you want to use something else, try disabling the Pyrefly extension instead of removing it -- does that help?

My favorite little feature from the Positron 2026.08 release: we now check your R scripts (and Python scripts, Quarto files, etc.) to see if they refer to any packages/modules that are needed to run the script but aren't installed. If they do, you'll get a little notification and an install button!
A screenshot of the Positron editor showing an R script that loads libraries, and a notification showing that a library needs to be installed.

Minivans are the absolute best. There's more room inside than some pickups have. And the SLIDING DOORS!!! When you're trying to remove a car seat after parking next to an SUV, you will want to hug the sliding doors (but you can't hug them because they don't open that way)

A couple of days ago someone said "bear with me" and I had a great idea for a reality TV show called Bear With Me about a guy with a literal bear as a pet In every episode the guy goes to a different place with the bear and acts nonchalant about it while everyone else loses their minds

You should be able to do this in Positron too! If you enable RStudio Keybindings (search in Settings) you can even use the same keyboard shortcuts. Alternately these two buttons can be used to restart or exit the R session, respectively.

Latest version of Positron can open xlsx files in the data viewer(!) and it has a dropdown menu now for previewing different formats of #QuartoPub documents And—most importantly, but also from a few weeks ago, so less new—the plots panel can pick up dimensions from chunk options!!!! #rstats

When we started working on Positron, we began by asking "what did we always want to do in RStudio, but couldn't"? Years of community upvotes on RStudio's issue tracker helped us form that wishlist. Here's how some big ideas made their way to Positron: opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-06...

Yeah! You can run multiple R sessions and versions at once which is pretty handy. Also has a lot more extensibility and 3rd party extensions (pretty much any VS Code extension works) and support for languages besides R. Remote sessions, too. Good summary here: positron.posit.co/migrate-rstu...
