Yes! Especially professors who teach History of Animals. I wonder what hay we could make of the history of straw. Equally bulky. Less valuable. But no less necessary because something has to soften the floor and absorb the pee.

I am so excited to learn that my friend @arielron.bsky.social won the MacArthur! After reading Ariel's amazing work on the history of hay, I stopped confusing the dried plants horses eat (hay) with the dried plants horses sleep on (straw). Phew! Genius indeed.

So, what to do? USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN. THINK: “Would I give this information to someone who wants to make money off my ideas without giving me credit?” Don’t outsource your brilliance to these people. They are NOT good actors. It’s not rocket science; have a drop of self-preservation instinct!

Thanks! I am not sure that the student has a tight focus yet. We are going to meet to discuss it in the next week or so and hopefully find a clear trajectory that she could trace.

We inherited a moderate sized raspberry patch with our yard, but the plants are imperialists. They have spread out of the patch and colonized the edge of my vegetable garden. So now we have SO MANY BERRIES!!!!

Yes. They do spread, but they are quite particular about where they will grow. I've tried to get them to grow in some of the wilder parts of my yard, and they won't.
