Happy 27th, Silver Case. I attended the launch party for the remake released in 2016. The DJ had Farley Jackmaster Funk's "Love Can't Turn Around" in his rotation. The previous day, I picked up SDATCHER at Tower Records for @sssuda51.bsky.social to sign then. Great time! I think about it often.

What's funny is, this song is a modified version of the original. Only it's a very minor modification. TOM★CAT's "TOUGH BOY" originally stated that we are living, living the eighties, eighties, eighties. In this version, it's the nineties. That's it! Top favorite TOM★CAT song.

This, NEURODIVER, and if it continued, was to make each new thing a totally different story that just so happened to share the same characters. Occasionally references to past events and past events affecting future events would be there. At this time I decided Lexi's hair was a chipped rice bowl.

I have a lot of very complicated feelings about ROM and other things. A lot that I tried to convey in NEURODIVER in some ways, albeit maybe too abstract. But I was still happy to have been part of it, given the ability to make these characters and let people play with them. CROW got to do things!

When I received the first draft of the comic, I had tears in my eyes. Comics were so important to me as a child. My parents liked them because they made me excited about reading. Then suddenly here I am in a coffee shop reading a draft, getting misty eyed at a comic based on a thing I was part of.

"For JJ. Thank you so much for letting me play in this rad sandbox. U made a great world." - a message written by Sina Grace in sharpy on the credits page of the trade paperback comic.

I really loved collaborating with everyone at IDW comics on this project. Melissa Brown was the editor and main contact for it, and was nothing short of wonderful, and Sina Grace would help write the initial script for NEURODIVER. This and NEURODIVER were a miracle to me in some ways, hahaha.

The writers for the short stories were Mary Kenny and @calebgoellner.bsky.social. If you want a direct sequel to some of the events of the first game, then check those stories out. This project was incredibly important to me. Here's a note I made about Crow for Stefano Simone, and some Lexi doodles.

The trade paperback cover was done by @aaronhamm.bsky.social. I remember seeing the palm trees and roller coaster, representing Santa Cruz (where Lexi starts), and thinking about Sonic. Every issue also had guest writers for a short 2 page mini-mini comic, all illustrated by @castpixel.bsky.social.

Happy 11th Anniversary, Read Only Memories. Here are some logo concepts I made for the 2020 IDW comic, a 4 issue series featuring Lexi! Here are some slightly older versions of these guys that I'm also pretty fond of. They originally had more furry-like traits to them as well. I think I had post-humans in mind at the time, and also just generally find more animal-like traits to be cuter.

More fleshed out versions of the previous characters. The one with the hair blasting out of their helmet now has blue accents and an X shaped belt. The heavy set one now has a big bubble helmet with two bubble "ears" on top with circle patterns colored red-ish, and the younger brat, who's taller than the other two, is lanky with green as their main color, an d orange hair. Their helmet now has bunny-like cybernetic ears. They still look like they might be a whiny asshole.

Dug up some old character concepts I did for a dead project where I used this episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark as a mood sheet. I was pretty fond of them. This was back in 2017 I think? Almost 10 years ago now hahahaaaaAAAAAAAあああああああああ＠＠＠

I really loved Are You Afraid of the Dark, and even used it as an example for a mood sheet at one point for a game that never came to be. Specifically The Tale of the 13th Floor. Maybe my absolute favorite episode of the series. Incredible visuals, atmosphere, and story.

A lot of things frightened me as a kid, even specific logos, but whatever scared me also drew in my interest. My mother claimed that she read Pet Sematary as I was about to be born and joked that maybe that's why I like horror. Anyway, I think about this episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark a lot.

I was discussing with a friend about how tired I am of the monster designs in Silent Hill, chasing after the same ideas of 2 over and over, and how we want to encounter a Francis Bacon painting instead. I would also opt for a Stephen Gammell illustration.

When I first watched a friend play Resident Evil and that first zombie encounter cutscene happened. That first encounter hit a nerve.

Every year Walden's Books would put these out on display at the front of their store, visible to the rest of the mall, and every year I would be fully gripped by the image of the skull in the ground with an intact nose. The blue and red coloring burned in to my mind and imagination. I loved it.

Ah yeah, Motto Abudeka is the second season. They step up the music a lot in it from what I've heard, but I haven't reached that season yet! I think this track has co-star Kyohei Shibata doing the vocals. He had a few studio albums, iirc, and I don't think he's a good singer! But he's charming.

For I Just Smile, it's actually the English version all the way. Actually gets me a little emotional! I think it carries the same weight and contrast as the upbeat, but kinda bitter sweet ending theme of Silhouette Mirage, which also has a great English version.

I recently beat Burning Rangers for the first time this year and finally warmed up to the English version of this song. I still will always like Takenobu Mitsuyoshi's vocals more, but the English one has some good energy to it, too.

Katte ni Shiyagare Hey! Brother is really fun, and released on the 13th of October, 1989 (Abunai Deka was October 5th '86). Check out this awesome opening. I couldn't not watch it. Also I really like Toru Nakamura (Be-Bop Highschool), and Kyohei Shibata (Oretachi wa Tenshi da!).

Oh yeah, I guess this would mark the 40th anniversary of Abunai Deka! I started watching this a year or two ago, a long with Katte Ni Shiyagare Hey! Brother, which also shares some of the Abudeka cast (and half of the directors). That one's celebrating its 37th anniversary this month, too, I think!

I was so dazzled by this as a kid. I was always so entranced by the sparks and lighting effects in Don Bluth animations, and the reveal of this thing was such a big showcase of all of that. I wanted a toy of it, too hahaha.

Through my organizing I also stumbled back onto the Kickstarter stretch goals map I made for Gaming in Color back in 2012. At the time I just got a Famicom, so red and gold were my fixation, plus I was replaying Mario 3. The final area was in a structure in a dream for a game that didn't exist.
