Every now and then there is a NYT crossword where I don't understand the trick clues until after I have completed the entire crossword. Those are aggravating days. Today was such a day.

This is part of what I love about working with real artists - seeing my characters through someone else's eyes. Some of the details are from my original description, but the exuberance of warmth, that is coming from Alppy's interpretation.

I met a woman at a school event who told me within minutes that her daughter was called Sydney because that's where she was conceived. Met the husband 10 minutes later and he independently told me the same thing. Both reacting to being told I was from Sydney.

I've read romance novels. Mainly romantasy, because I can jump on a bandwagon as well as anyone. Romance novels are novels. They're writing. I'd argue that they require far more genuine humanity to work well than most "literature."

This is exactly the eye of the needle. The ultimate goal is to restore the rule of law. The current SCOTUS is actively undermining it and must be reformed with extreme urgency and prejudice. But nonetheless some obedience to its rulings is required to maintain the rule of law.
