After raising dozens- maybe hundreds- of various poultry over the years I’m really starting to feel like “big heat lamp” forces this idea that babies need constant brooder heat. Most chicks/goslings beyond 3 days old spend MOST of their time outside of the heat, even in a 30-40 deg. garage. (Cont)

Well it’s 23 days since I set the hatching eggs and this egg hadn’t pipped at all either internally or externally save for a tiny hole made UNDER the airsac. This doesn’t usually bode well and means something is very wrong if they haven’t attempted to even pip so I gave her a safety hole and look!
