KITTEN ADOPTION KLAXON Gravy needs a home in the Baltimore/DC area ASAP, preferably one with other young cats. After the sudden death of her only sister, she really craves playtime with other kittens. Gravy is fully vaccinated and spayed, cuddly and playful, and learns what is ok and not ok fast.

Agree, but sometimes the trash just needs to go out right now- like you cleaned the litter boxes or cleaned out your leftovers in the fridge, or don’t want something nasty in there until dark. But also yes- wait until dark is a solid strategy otherwise

Listen - I work for the state in a very fulfilling job where I use my degrees and give back to my community. I was able to enroll in the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness program & get on an income-driven repayment plan. Payment plans are the norm, not the exception!

Trip to the hospital for a rape kit is first- evidence is crucial & fragile. If you decide to report, the SANE nurse and advocate will call the police for you to report at the hospital with them supporting you. If you decide to report later, the evidence is preserved from the start

My mentor in grad school used to ask people who used the "she was drunk, so..." to mitigate criminal accountability if they felt the same way if they left their debit card at the bar overnight and had unauthorized purchases. Or if your car was stolen when you were hammered. Yeah...

I study juvenile recidivism, and work directly with a restorative justice coordinator. Our youth have been adjudicated guilty and sentenced to the Division of Youth Services for largely felony offenses - rape, incest, murder., etc. The article gets RJ completely wrong, and it's embarrassing

Restorative justice runs *in tandem* with incarceration - it is rarely EVER independent unless it's a probation-level offense (egg a car as a teen? wash city vehicles for community service). It drives me nuts when people don't get this. Yes, I am a criminologist & I have fancy degrees and everything
