Working on a comic loosely inspired by another historically minded architect, Augustus Pugin. The first arc explores Rochester Castle, but I'd love to take our heroes to Notre Dame or Carcassonne to meet Le-Duc. Here's a sneak peak of page 2 by the talented @xavierdesveaux.bsky.social

Looking forward to this show. I was so surprised when I fist learned about Viollet-le-Duc's idealized and occasionally fantastical architectural restorations. It was the first thing to open my eyes to the complexities and responsibilities of preservation/restoration.

The largest infrastructure projects currently being built in the US appear to be data centers and detention centers. The AI boom has coincided with ICE becoming the most heavily funded government agency. It's hard not to see a connection: This is the architectures of digital fascism

I've been moving my comic library and trying to weed things out. I couldn't part with these single issues, but having it all together in an omnibus is still pretty tempting. Ambitious superhero storytelling at the grandest scale.

Finished a comic script today. My first full 22-page story. It seemed so daunting after writing shorts but it clicked into place scene by scene. And a last minute breakthrough made it work as a stand-alone, which I love.

Sometimes I worry this sketch from 15 years ago is the best comic I'll ever make.

I'm watching this happen in old neighborhoods outside Philly and it's infuriating. Developers & "flippers" are demolishing smaller character-rich homes and clear-cutting 100-year-old oaks to maximize the allowed buildable area for identical garage-forward monstrosities. slate.com/business/202...

Watched Romulus last night. It’s good! Especially the first half. I’m not a die-hard Alien fan but I liked how it attempted to stitch together the movies even if it was a bit clunky and Force Awakens-y at times. Also really liked the more direct focus on the Space Capitalism stuff. BUT…

Over the last 2 weeks, I've watched all the Alien movies (except Romulus) for the first time. I enjoyed them immensely and feel incredibly inspired — both by what's in the movies and by what isn't. They're so disconnected, but the worlds are so rich. My current ranking with some thoughts:

Issues 20-25 blow this comic wide open. Darkhawk's wild cosmic origins are revealed and our streetwise teenage hero is suddenly fighting his way through "null space." It's a satisfying reveal, but WAY too much exposition. I wish they would have trickled this information out slowly over more issues.

7 issues in and Darkhawk is so good. An untested superhero learns to use his powers to take down local crooks. 4 issues of street level crime-fighting and family drama that never leaves Queens. Then issue 5 hints at something cosmic... Knowing where this story goes, it's WILD to see how it starts.

I always wondered how #comicbook creators came up with so many ideas for stories. Only now realizing that creativity is a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. Since I've been working on three short comics and a prose story simultaneously, new ideas just keep coming...
