I have been mostly Google-free for eight months, but the news about Google's complicity with the Lake America nonsense was what I needed to click the final click. Perhaps you might find this inspiring? jimmunroe.net/writing/dive...

...I helped set up this event happening soon: torontogamesweek.com/schedule#eve... It's a tournament for Rocket League, a game which features the far-fetched idea of giant soccer with vehicles. Unintentional, but strangest Toronto festival collab ever? @torontogamesweek.com @adambunch.bsky.social

I went to the (excellent) opening night of The Festival of Bizarre Toronto History bizarretoronto.com and this strange picture from 100 years ago popped up, "auto pushball at the Exhibition, 1925". Meanwhile...

25 years ago today I did my first ever game related event. Today I get to work with this awesome community via @torontogamesweek.com

A panel from Roaming by Jillian and Mariko Tamaki. I love how it incidentally captures trying to squeeze a takeout container into a too-full garbage can -- a weirdly familar moment I've never seen in print.

I kicked my Google addiction, and now I just use my G Home devices as dumb Bluetooth speakers. When you switch the mic button off to stop them eavesdropping the LEDs go Cylon-orange and they look like they're glaring at you. More about my month here: jimmunroe.net/writing/dive...

At Sitges, the sci-fi and horror film festival just outside Barcelona. Really amazed at how it totally transforms the town... There's even a statue of the festival's mascot! It's been going since the late 1960s.

Kudos to @daff.space and the Game Sewer folk for their on-theme sludge refreshments served in petri dishes.

Sneaking away from the game conference to say hi to an old friend, the coliseum inspired Vancouver Public Library. We arrived in town around the same time, May 1995!

Delightfully the AGO has invited me back to curate a selection of videogames about Indian cooking, teenage exocolonists, and strangely satisfying tiny adjustments like straightening a picture frame on a wall. www.facebook.com/share/1GNus2... #Toronto #videogames #art

A crowd of people listen to a bearded man an art gallery describe what he feels is of cultural value about a variety of video games.

I was at the birth of the Toronto Public Library Junction Triangle branch! I thought that it would be the 101st but it's actually replacing Perth, so we're still at a pleasing 100 branches.

Another delightful innovation from the library! A take-a-puzzle leave-a-puzzle section at Pape/Danforth branch. They have considered the whole missing piece conundrum and added a rule on the sign.

Shelves of puzzles available to borrow at a small branch of the Toronto Public Library.

Last year, my daughter gave me this. I vowed to her that I would fill it with schemes. I now have close to fifty. Things like: (1/5)
