So tired of news articles that tell about how bad it is for the Trumpstain. As far as I can tell, he is still in power, he's still has billions of dollars he made in the presidency, & he's still alive, so things aren't bad enough for him. People can stop publishing how horrible things are for him.

Don’t expect the big 5 publishers not to jump on AI created content. Some are already using AI to create short video adaptations of books, and we’ve all heard how editors and agents are now using AI to read through slush piles, among other things, not to mention cover art. (1/2)

I started listening to the Tempest Runner audio drama today, and I adore this format! So glad I decided to listen rather than read here. May give some other Star Wars audiobooks a shot as I hear they’re well done, if perhaps not quite like Tempest Runner.

I’ve had my Gmail account for 22-23 years, ever since the early beta days. But, given the company’s obsequiousness to the Cheeto in Chief, I am going to transition to another service, probably Protonmail. I’ll also be migrating away from Google’s other services. No more Apple products either.

I saw yesterday that some right-wing outlets were running stories about me, which I’m used to. But this time I’m going to say something about it, because these were framed to imply that I was aligned with their own transphobia. ⬇️

For the record: NOPE. Honestly, I don’t think there’s an issue today I care about on a personal level more deeply than trans rights. And it’s rough out there right now. Bigots on one side of the political aisle and too many cowards on the other. ⬇️

When you write a bunch one day and it’s really good, but you realize the day after that it takes the character on a different trajectory that’s not going to work in the broader story, so you have to cut it. Not really a wasted day, but it does sting a little. #writersky #fantasywriting #booktok

Made a decision today. I want to be a writer. I’ve been working on a story centered around a character named Fay for over a year now, and have had the idea since 2019. I hope that someday in the hopefully not too distant future that you all can meet her. #writersky #booksky

A journal entry dated May 3, 2026. It reads:

I want to be a writer. I want to tell Fay’s story and have it out in the world. I want to tell more stories beyond hers.

There. I said it. I’m hoping this will help keep me motivated to manifest it. I know this is a bit personal for my creative writing journal, but there have been so many times in my life, especially when I was younger, that I let my lack of self-confidence and esteem stop me from taking risks and dreaming big. While it’s true that even if I had done those my life may not have been any different, at least I would have tried.

I’m in my forties. I know I’m starting late. My confidence in my ability to tell Fay’s story is shaky, and what little I have is probably unearned. I’m still anxious, but I am DONE letting it get the better of me. I’m going to write.

I only started creative writing seriously about a year ago. I dabbled before, but nothing quite stuck. I'm still new and my work is really rough, but I absolutely love when I sit down and write a character's back story. This one in particular has been a long time coming! #writing #creativewriting

In my mid-20s, I thought I was done with Star Wars. The prequel trilogy was finished, The Clone Wars launch was disastrous, and the EU, which I loved was a hot, never ending mess where I made the realization that my favorite characters would never have the happy endings I wanted for them. 1/2.

I always thought the end of 1984 when the Party announces they’d switched allegiances in the war and were now enemies with their former ally, and the people accept it immediately and unquestioningly after a few seconds as unbelievable. MAGA and Republicans have shown me otherwise this past year.

The weekend snowstorm made my car lose its mind. So, I’m sitting at the dealership waiting hours for them to replace the air pressure sensors in the tires (modern cars drive me crazy sometimes). At least I have some boon (book) companions for company. #booksky #gawain

Two books, The Works of the Gawain Poet and The Wanderer by Cherry Wilder and Katya Reimann, resting on a beat up table at the car dealership with a crappy cup of coffee nearby.

I’m doing my 2025 reading wrap a few weeks early because I don’t think it’s likely I’ll finish my current book before the end of the year. So here’s my full list per Fable as well as my completely arbitrary “awards.” #booksky #starwars #starwarsbooksky #fantasy #fantasybooksky

A list of the 22 books I read in 2025. It includes the following:

*Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut
*Witch and Mercenary, Vol. 1 by Chohokiteki Kaeru
*Babel, Vol. 1 by Kuji Furumiya
*Sword of the Demon Hunter, Vol. 1 by Motoo Nakanishi
*Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
*The Twelve Kingdoms, Vol. 2 by Fuyumi Ono
*Alchemy and a Cup of Tea by Rebecca Thorne
*Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson
*Isles of the Emberdark by Brandon Sanderson
*The Twelve Kingdoms, Vol. 1 by Fuyumi Ono
*Star Wars The High Republic: Out of the Shadows by Justina Ireland
*Moribito II: Guardian of the Darkness by Nahoko Uehashi
*Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit by Nahoko Uehashi
*Sabriel by Garth Nix
*Fahrenheit-182 by Mark Hoppus
*Star Wars: Dark Disciple by Christie Golden
*Babylon’s Ashes by James S.A. Corey
*Tea You at the Altar by Rebecca Thorne
*Star Wars The High Republic: The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott
*Mad Money by Max Allan Collins
*A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen
*Star Wars The High Republic: Into the Dark by Claudia Gray

2025 Reading Recap!

I read 22 books this year, only one of which was a reread.

* Best — Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
* Most Disappointing — Babel, Vol. 1 by Kuji Furumiya
* Funniest — Fahrenheit-182 by Mark Hoppus
* Longest — Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson
* Most Overhyped — Star Wars: Dark Disciple by Christie Golden (I didn’t care for it)
* Most Underhyped — Star Wars The High Republic: Into the Dark by Claudia Gray (Fantastic)
* Most Surprising — Sword of the Demon Hunter, Vol. 1 by Motoo Nakanishi
* Best Fantasy - Sabriel by Garth Nix (I read a lot of great fantasy this year, so this was a difficult choice)

Picked up some old fantasy books at the thrift store recently, all with female protagonists. Decided to start with this one, The Wanderer by Cherry Wilder and Katya Reimann. It’s a spin off or a standalone, which I didn’t realize, of another series by Wilder, but oh well. Liking it so far #booksky

Book cover of “The Wanderer” by Cherry Wilder and Katya Reimann, published by Tor books in 2004. The cover features artwork of an armored woman carrying a spear slung over her shoulder on horseback atop a grassy hill, her red hair blowing in the wind. Facing away from her and below and to her left are a few different men wearing black hoods with long tails. One man has no hood but his long black hair streams out behind him and he wears a golden circlet.

Trump knows his agenda is wildly unpopular, so instead of selling it, he’s doing what he does best: cheat. His plan? Push red states to redraw their congressional maps to wipe out Democratic seats and lock in a GOP House majority. First up: Texas with a special legislative session set for next week.
