Bluesky fail for me: because it’s so easy to follow tons of people and because there is no algorithm for making content reappear, any post gets buried within 30 seconds, never to be seen again, unless it’s a popular post that gets reposted. Ironically, #Bluesky rewards the major creators after all.

Is it only in Ohio that, when I apologize, people respond by commenting on my well-being? Also, how can they state with such confidence that I am, in fact, fine? #You’reFine #Satire #PretendingNotToGetIt

Someone challenged me to make some digital art out of the first photo, even though it didn’t have any big shapes and a lot of the photo was blurry. Here’s a sample of how I responded; a few more images in a comment.

Sometimes eople ask me what app I used to generate my digital art. Sigh. I have tried “kaleidoscope” apps, and it’s boring, there is no control over the details, no opportunity for expression. Taking time to meticulously crop, rotate, reflect, and assemble pieces is hard, but satisfying.

In these times of upheaval, chaos, destruction, conflict, and fear, making and looking at this symmetrical layered pattern, with colors that seem to be a mix of fire and ice, feels heartening and soothing. [I made this design from an image I will post in a comment along with another design].

When I play with images, collaging reflected and rotated pieces of a photo together, sometimes I make a kaleidoscope, but here I made wallpaper.

My vibe this morning. This was my way of spending half of the free time created from the cancellation by my first client of the week; I actually almost walked into my office early and decided to head back out. I just missed capturing the shadow of someone’s arm waving in animated conversation.

Another break from politics and also from my pattern images: Some of my photos of leafless trees reaching up for light, in the rain and fog and from across a field, two of these severely damaged yet growing, seemed to fit the mood

Politics break: Maybe anything could potentially become art, or at least a source of play. I admired the pattern on the side of someone else’s cleats at an Ultimate Frisbee game, and then played around a little bit with the shapes… OK, I’ll get back to natural beauty and forms soon…

Ah, back to natural forms and a little bit of color. One of my favorite but hardest types of designs is a “pinwheel,” rotating the images rather than reversing them. It takes a lot of careful tweaking, cropping, and turning to get things to line up, trying to form one overall continuous pattern.
