I don't normally support name calling, but there are always exceptions to the rule.

I'm confused, am I English? I'm white but only one Grandparent was English. The other 3 were Canadian, Irish and Welsh. It's mad the knots she is tieing herself in. The only English people feeling hard done to are the ones who listen to this rubbish all day long.

Restructuring at work with a load of redundancies. This is before any proposed changes to banking tax levels. It's a brutal market, I'm safe for now but this is unlikely to be the end.

I know inflation is high but #Netflix increasing the price by 33% feels excessive 🤔.

Interesting article, but I do wonder whether the research accounts for neurodiverse people who may have a greater disposition to both screen time and struggling with emotions / socialising. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

Effect of elevated screen exposure could be as significant as parental behaviour and premature birth, report says

It probably involves raising taxes that would be outside the current Labour Manifesto commitments, therefore he would be unable to enact it without popular support.

I can't believe how many data breaches are occurring in the NHS. In banking we used to be able to look at anyone's bank accounts. In 2018 GDPR came in and we were made aware, if we have no legitimate reason to access a record, we would be sacked for doing so. Clearly this didn't happen in the NHS.

A really interesting graphic. Whether the UK is last on GDP per capita or not is debatable depending on how you measure. We would certainly be near the bottom. However, life in the UK is much better in so many ways for the vast majority and it boils down to what you think is important in life.

I've started replaying the best N64 Zelda game, Majora's Mask, before the remake of Ocarina is released (can'twait). I know a lot of people didn't enjoy the time mechanics of MM, it is really unique, but also very enjoyable when you figure something out and are rewarded with a new mask.

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

Having completed Fusion / Zero recently I feel I need to revisit this one. I did give up on it due to the controls but presumably I can mod them now if playing in the emulator.

There is no greater driver of economic growth than good public transport links. Look at the boom of the Elizabeth Line. People who whinge about the costs of it are just short-sighted morons. Ignore them and build everything. HS2. HS3. Crossrail 2. Trams in every city. Just do it.

I think you are confusing operating income and balance sheet investments. A bank could spend their free cashflow on investing in VC, but this money will still be taxed the same. The only way they would save tax is if the value of the investment was written down which would create a loss.

I'd love to see any numbers you have on the likely impact of this. What would be the impact on SME employment vs job cuts at large banks, what type of employment and what wages.
