Seventeen years ago today, I saw U2 perform at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Muse opened. Fun show, but my costly “fan club” seats were far enough away that I felt I was watching other people behold U2 instead of truly doing so myself.

‪Released 34 years ago today. My favorite album from my high school years. Still remember hearing “Drive” for the first time on the radio in my school’s journalism room. Ah, 1992.‬

Rewatching EVIL DEAD II. I did not realize (or I had forgotten) that it was shot here in North Carolina. Wadesboro, to be exact, just 45 miles from Charlotte.

Who else LOVED playing Sid Meier's Pirates! created by Sid Meier for the Commodore 64 and published by MicroProse in 1987. The game is a simulation of the life of a pirate, a privateer, or a pirate hunter. It was widely ported to other systems. #C64 #Commodore64 #Commodore

A man commented “F you and your Flock cameras" on a South Carolina police department's Facebook post. And then the police department — reportedly the Police Chief himself — messaged the man threatening to have "U.S. Marshals" arrest him for “unlawful communications.” www.wrdw.com/2026/09/23/r...

The situation stems from a comment McClellan made on a public post the department made about Flock cameras being cut down across town. McClellan said something along the lines of, “F you and your Flock cameras.”

“I just said something and it really, it upset that police chief obviously and he messaged me roughly a week later. Not happy with what I said,” McClellan said.

In screenshots McClellan provided, the Facebook account labeled Ridge Spring Police Department responded to him, saying it is unlawful to use profanity electronically and stated, “I will be obtaining a warrant” for “unlawful communications.” The message also stated, “I will send the U.S. Marshals to pick you up.”

Crestfallen to learn The Book Exchange in Hickory, North Carolina will soon close its doors. It boasts a massive selection of used and long out-of-print paperbacks (including decades-old science fiction and horror books). When work took me to Catawba County, I would always try to visit this place.

Thirty-five years ago today, I walked from my home to the now defunct Town & Country Mall in suburban Houston to buy my pre-ordered copies of the USE YOUR ILLUSION albums by Guns N' Roses. It was, as you might suspect, the day of their release. Those were the days.

Thirty-one years ago today, I saw the Ramones open for Pearl Jam at South Park Meadows in Austin, Texas. That was an eventful weekend at that venue. The next night, 31 years ago tomorrow, I saw R.E.M. perform with opening acts Radiohead and Natalie Merchant. Oh, to be 19 again.

Thirty-four years ago today, I trekked to Fort Bend County, Texas to see Lollapalooza ‘92. Locked my keys in my car immediately after I arrived. Saw Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Ministry, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Lush, and Ice Cube on that mighty day of days. Had a photo pass!

Reminded that 34 years ago today I cut class at Stratford High School to see Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, and Faith No More at The Astrodome. Drove my ‘86 Dodge from suburbia to the venue and dug every minute of the experience. Those were the days.

The only modern (i.e. post-1970) Superman movie I did not see in the theater was SUPERMAN III, which in retrospect was a mistake. (I would happily trade it with SUPERMAN IV, an all-around depressing endeavor.)

Just think: Just five years after the two Avengers teams competed in the Astrodome, I saw Guns N' Roses, Metallica, and Faith No More perform them in September of '92.

Listening to The Doors, I am reminded I snuck into Olive Stone's biopic film back in March of 1991 (because I was not yet 17 or however old one needed to be in those days to see an R-rated film). Trekked to Memorial City Mall the next day and bought THE BEST OF THE DOORS greatest hits compilation.
