Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/08/2026These are some of the lyrics from a song written a long time ago, following the slow then sudden break-up of a good and creative friendship and alliance. I was bringing myself to terms with how that felt after some time had passed. I'll have to seek out the rest of the lyrics. 000
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 20/06/2026Not doing too much, just listening to David Attenborough explain the electrical fields between flowers and bees. If the planet's finest achievement, its pinnacle, and the meaning of everything was this extraordinary relationship, I would be absolutely fine with that. 040
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Though George Orwell's writing is quite brilliant. Whoever writes reality right now is a total hack. 050
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 23/05/2026You've just reminded me of another book I've always been meaning to read. 000
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 17/05/2026If the President and his men weren't in the Epstein files, they'd already be released. 060
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 11/05/2026My wife visited Oban today in beautiful weather. It took me back some years when I spent a week on Mull and visited Iona during a terrific storm. The dramatic scenery may've appeared harsh as it quickly ate into my bones, but when the sun finally appeared it was the most exotic place I've been to. 090
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 08/05/2026These are not serious people, but they are a serious problem for the rest of us. 0231
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 08/05/2026Not too far from where I live, there's a burning bus sat on the bridge that takes people over the river. The bridge has been closed. #elections #localelections #Councilelections 020
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 21/04/2026Did he say anything about how he would vanquish Luke and the rebel alliance? 1163
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 19/04/2026From a man who gushed about 'sunny uplands' when the outcome of the disastrous Brexit vote was announced. 010
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 07/04/2026I don't think I'm alone in my hatred of a world leader who recently threatened civilisation. He is your madman, but the world has had to put up with his brand of lunacy for too long. Enough. 010
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 06/04/2026This 'situation' has just slipped even closer towards 'Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb'. 020
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 31/03/2026I read a headline earlier about Trump telling Europe to get their own oil. To me that reads, you win the war, I can't. 280
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 28/03/2026A cobweb man With bearded ears Pulls to him all his years. As old as hills He says to me "I am all my ancestry." A mither of moths With finger crooks Waving at unopened books. A man unmade Just like his bed Too tired to sink his silver head. Poem and picture by J. Buck 030
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 17/03/2026The US government's determination to create new controversy is endless. So the question becomes what turmoil will it unleash next. The collapse of its own midterm elections, violence against voters, more arrests, destruction of evidence, & the ultimate death of NATO & the alignment with Putin. 0100
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 08/03/2026I'm partway through watching Poliakoff's Shooting The Past again. The character Oswald, played brilliantly by Timothy Spall, is constantly referring to himself as prat etc, and goes out of his way to annoy practically everyone. I just ended up wanting to work with him at Fallon Photo Library. 020
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 03/03/2026Sounds to me, for all intents and purposes, that Trump, as near as damn it, gave her the job and still hasn't fired her, irrespective of her ineptitude. Tillis even sang Trump's praises, which is a big giveaway. Castigate the unqualified minion, while exonerating your superior. That's cowardice. 100
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 03/03/2026Non-US citizen here. Why was none of his vitriol reserved for #Trump, the man who, I presume, gave her and is keeping her in the job? 470
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 01/03/2026My wife took this picture at the entrance of one of our public lavatories (fraught with danger, I know). It caused much hilarity at the time. I now see it more as a political cartoon, a perfect illustration of what our choices are, and a cautionary tale for a certain so-called world leader. #Iran 051
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 26/02/2026We used to go to war against people and ideas like this. 010
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 25/02/2026Those individuals who adorn their lampposts with the union flag need to realise that they're hanging 'For Sale' signs on their country. 061
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 12/02/2026A whole system based on individuals associated with a criminal paedophile gang? 020
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 30/01/2026A vote for Reform will put the country in the hands of those who want to sell it. That's how patriotic they are. 0130
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 30/01/2026Is she saying China cares more about US citizens than the US Government do? 190
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 20/01/2026There should be things like this dotted about, for anyone to happen upon them unexpectedly. Next to your bed when you wake, on a garden wall, on the windowsill of a house you pass every day. They would brighten our mood immediately and return to our thoughts long after experiencing them. 010
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Caught between a rock and a hard place. But, eventually, you would think that something must give. When is enough enough? 200
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026I'd like to thank all those who responded with their thoughts, greatly appreciated and educational (something I'm sure your current government are dead against). 000
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026From afar, your Democrat party does appear toothless and lacking in the energy needed to protect its citizens from this kind of onslaught. Our own Labour government, which is very central in policies and outlook (some would even call them right-leaning), also come across as slow & lacking a spine. 100
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Of course, and I'm glad you've reminded me of that. I sometimes forget which cities these crimes are perpetrated in. A deeply shocking event. At least that officer was convicted of murder. 000
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026This I can believe, it's almost Kafkaesque in it's predictably bureaucratic political doublespeak. You have my sympathy. 020
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Beautifully written by Bo, and a great shame its contents are so depressing. 010
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Well, didn't the US go through a civil war? I know it's not 'cop on cop'. Even England, where I'm from, has had many uprisings, plots and battles around who should lead it - we've even executed a king! I know this is not what you're specifically asking, but you get my point, I hope. 100
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026I immediately thought of that line, 'the land of the free', when reading this. Ultimately, it sounds like US citizens have wafer-thin protections and this government was almost inevitable at some point. 000
Jim Buck @jimbuck.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Thank you.l for the insight. Anyone might be forgiven for thinking that this situation is heading towards a clash between the two groups with more violence & bloodshed inevitable. I look at your midterm elections in almost the same light as Jan 6th, as if it were yet another test of your democracy. 110
