Did I tell you my debut #memoir is coming from @unsolicitedpress.bsky.social? It's about a single mom who gets targeted by predatory men & learns to defend herself in & out of the ring. The book takes on our culture of gender violence & broken legal system. Here's the cover in all its glory!
Front cover image shows the knot of a black belt over a white gi. The text reads:

A Wilson’s snipe was “winnowing” in our backyard tonight. It’s a sound males make with their feathers during mating season. First sign of one we’ve seen in 20 years.

Pinch me, this absolute icon of poetry is teaching a small, private workshop at my house on Sunday. I'm soooooo excited to meet her! (PS--Can you hear my heart thumping in eager anticipation?)
On the left, the front cover of The Asking: New and selected Poetry shows a staggered stack of paperback books. To the right, Jane Hirshfield gazes directly into the camera with clear, blue eyes and the slightest of smiles. Her wavy red hair falls over her shoulders.

Looking forward to diving into this #memoir that deals with inter-partner abuse, revenge suicide, and debilitating grief by licensed psychotherapist @shavaunscott.bsky.social.
The cover of Night Bird, a memoir by Shavaun Scott, depicts a woman’s shoulders and head. Her eyes are closed, and thick, wavy red hair falls back from her face. A white owl in flight appears above her head. A forest of birch trees rises behind them.
