If Ds take the Senate, Schumer will deserve some of the credit. My guess is he keeps the job but doesn't run for reelection in 2028. (I thought the statement on Putin/Ukraine from Shaheen, Schumer and Warren was very strong, fwiw).

There's the non-joke problem, and also the problem that a disturbed/unbalanced person, group or country will take his words literally—just as he said them—and could decide to act on them. The risk is elevated. Newsom has ordered threat monitoring, which is the right thing to do. Because what if?
