smart, for suuuuure. it got me yesterday & it’s almost certainly going to get me tomorrow, too 😩 idk if you saw my earlier posts this AM, but a meteorologist in AL had a great breakdown of pressure effects on the body & how it affects different people. it was cool to see it acknowledged for once!

that would be a wonderful surprise! i expected to stop seeing her around this time for hibernation, so the month-early (to me) was unexpected. that said, my pics of her last fall stopped in September. so maybe the 🍎 🍑 & 🥜 got her fattened up ahead of schedule? she was def less hungry that last week

can’t look at photos or video of her yet without tearing up, but i try to focus on the fact that we’ve had no indicators that she’s dead, and no reports from neighbors of their dog killing a groundhog (i checked) so she might just have gotten healthy and chubby enough to start hibernating early

been a month since we’ve seen Mme Applebottom and i hope she’s just decided to hunker down early for the winter. i’ve gotten used to not seeing her, mostly, but i miss her a lot. boychild still appears daily under the small shed, so maybe she just gave up her den there for him.

Meteorologist Chris Vickers O

FEELING THE WEATHER!? Heads up to some sharp changes in barometric pressure beginning today through Saturday across the entire region.
A powerful storm system and cold front will send abnormally low barometric pressure into the Great Lakes Region Friday. This will be followed by a sharp rise in barometric pressure Saturday.
Changes in weather, including barometric pressure, temperature, wind and humidity can all impact how we feel. Certain aches, pains, sinus pressure, headaches, arthritis and more can react and contribute to these discomforts. Are you feeling anything yet? Perhaps the sharp changes in the weather ahead are to blame!

also centered around Alabama, but still a really neat breakdown for, as he says, “human barometers“ 😁
Chief Meteorologist David Paul *

By request for the human barometers
across the Southeast - potentially impactful pressure changes are ahead.
If you're one of
those people who can feel the weather changing before any clouds even arrive, pay attention to what's coming.
We're looking at some pretty significant swings in atmospheric pressure, especially Friday
through Sunday.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Relatively steady
pressure across the Southeast. For many weather-sensitive individuals, this should be a quieter stretch.
) Thursday: Pressure climbs before beginning to change direction. Some of you may start noticing those familiar symptoms.
• Friday: Here's when things get dynamic! Y Atmospheric pressure is forecast to plunge toward 1015 mb (29.96") around Dothan. That's the kind of change many of you have told me can coincide with migraine attacks, fibromyalgia flares, arthritis and joint pain, sinus pressure, dizziness and Ménière's symptoms.
Saturday into Sunday: Here comes the rebound! Pressure surges upward, potentially reaching around 1028 mb (30.34") by Sunday morning. That's : facebook.com ly 13 mb in less than two days! While many of you report feeling worse when pressure FALLS, others say it's the rapid RISE that gets them. Some feel both.
By Monday and Tuesday, pressure begins easing again.
This is exactly why I've been paying so much attention to atmospheric pressure changes. Your comments have shown me just how many people live with weather sensitivity, often dealing with symptoms that others can't see. Of course, not everyone responds the same way and a pressure change doesn't guarantee symptoms. However, knowing when the bigger swings are in the forecast may help you plan ahead. See my previous post for predicted nationwide pressure anomaly maps.
Here's my question for all you human barometers: Which bothers you more - falling pressure, rising pressure or BOTH?
Plus, where are you checking in from? I'd love to hear how these changes affect you, as this is a community that can learn from each other.
(This forecast graphic is specifically for Dothan, Alabama, but the broader weather pattern will affect other parts of the Southeast, with timing and pressure changes varying by location.)

this meteorologist from Alabama did a cool job of including barometric pressure side effects for this week. this is from yesterday & it’s centered around Alabama, but still a useful breakdown

Human barometers, high pressure is about to take over for many - and that 1043 mb on the map is no joke! /
Wednesday (October 14): A strong high is already building over the Northern Plains and Midwest (1026 mb). The Northeast and Great Lakes are still under a low, so falling or already-low pressure there. This is the rollercoaster zone all the way through the weekend - beware! * The Southern Plains and Texas have their own low, but it's weak. The Southeast sits at relatively higher than normal pressure.
Friday (October 16): That high explodes. ** A whopping 1043 mb high pressure parked over the Plains, covering almost the entire West and Central US. The Northeast returns to the deep blue with an anomalous 1001 mb low. This rapid drop could flare fibromyalgia, sinus pressure, joint pain and arthritis, vestibular dizziness and Meniere's. If you're under the big red, pressure is rising hard or already very high. Most of you feel better under highs. A smaller group gets that tight, pressing headache or "heavy lid" feeling when the high sits on them this hard.Sunday (October 18): The high shifts east and locks in over the Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast (1035 mb). A new low digs into the Northern Plains and Canada. The West Coast is mixed. The East gets the rebound into high pressure...a real pressure ride for the week! *1l
Most of you flare on the fall. Some of you flare on the rise or the stubborn high. This pattern gives both - especially that rapid climb into Friday's 1043 mb high. Definitely log how you're feeling and compare it to the pressure anomalies.
Pace if you find yourself in the transition zones or feel the weight of the much higher than normal pressure. Rest, hydrate, keep the toolkit close!

The graphic is the continental United States with high-pressure over the Pacific Northwest and high-pressure over the upper Midwest into Oklahoma, and low pressure over Texas up through the plain states and then very low pressure up in the northeast for yesterday (Wednesday)this graphic shows a large area of high pressure over the continental United States approximately west of the Mississippi and north into Canada. Then it shows very low pressure over the United States east of the Mississippi and north into New England. This is for today.
The next graphic shows mild low pressure over the Western United States and mild high pressure over the Pacific Northwest. It shows very low pressure over the upper Midwest, and then it shows very high pressure ranging from Texas up through the north east and then over towards the mid Atlantic and the southern states. This is for Sunday October 18.

these last 3 weeks until election day are going to be bumpy af, unsurprisingly but we’re going to get thru them, show up at the polls & send the nazis home don’t get discouraged in advance—if you’ve got some adrenaline, sign up to call or knock doors of voters who don’t vote in midterms—it helps!

Start hydrating now, Pittsburgh & Western PA migraine crew! 🧠 the remnants of hurricane Isaias is going to drop the barometric pressure a bunch in the next 24 hours (it’s already started; right now it’s 30.24”, so still a slow drop, but tomorrow it’s going to crater)
this morning, the pressure was 30.33 at 10:55 AM in Pittsburgh.tomorrow and Sunday, October 11 at 6 PM, the pressure is gonna be 29.84. This is a huge drop due to the remnants of the hurricane from the south.
