3,000 years before Destiny of Dragons, the story begins. Gods, dragons, and tyrants circle around Gryff, for he carries the key to immortality and a weapon to destroy gods, or restore them. Wolf's Curse by @jfrcoates.bsky.social, with a cover by @itomaisfuzzy.bsky.social is available for pre-order!

Cover art of Wolf’s Curse, by J.F.R. Coates, which is stylised like a woven tapestry.
Two werewolves – one in human form and one as an anthropomorphic wolf – stand in front of mountains and a night sky. The full moon is bright with a shadow of a wolf on its face, and a small shard falls from the moon to the mountains. Art by Itoma.

Thank you! It's not at all recognisable from that 19 year old draft (and no one is ever reading it!), but it's been quite the journey to bring it to where it is now!

19 years in the making, Wolf's Curse is finally almost here to share! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to Farenar, around 3,000 years before the events in Destiny of Dragons!

Well I wasn't ready to announce the pre-order tonight, but it's already live on some websites because they're too efficient. Early opportunity for those who can find it! Announcement coming tomorrow!

Part of the story has already been told. Now, we see how it all began. Coming soon...

I think I'm on more drafts of these three paragraphs than of the entire novel - which took 19 years to complete!

Related: why is back-cover text literally the hardest part of the writing and publishing process?

I'd almost be curious to see what the local Warhammer community is like now - I used to work at one of the local GQ stores. But then I look at the prices and lose a lot of the interest again. I'm fine just playing the Total War Warhammer game.

Every single fascist government in history made the lives of some demographics better. They are still evil. Just because he UK government is doing something nice for some people does not excuse them for he fascism they are desperately trying to do to others.

I know the feeling! Sometimes I feel like it's just bashing two rocks together and sometimes there's a spark. Sometimes there's a little boost in sales with a new post and other times there's nothing.

I’ve spent probably 15 years promoting the published works in the fandom. I love that publishers are a thing we have. The thing we (authors especially) are less good at is marketing, and I think that remains true to this day. Speaking generally. There are plenty of edge cases and Spiders Georgs

Is it really a furry convention if you don't have a snake try to strangle you? Got to hold JD, who was very eager to get all of my warmth from around my neck! Such a gorgeous snake!

And that's precisely the problem, I think. It's similar to a lot of the reaction against the BLM protests. "If you complain in a way that makes me uncomfortable, then I'm going to ignore everything you say."

Jaye F.R. Coates @jfrcoates.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

I get the frustration of it, tbh. We complain "the right way" and no one pays any attention. It's only once we get rude or obnoxious that anyone ever listens.

That's definitely been my experience as well. Not widespread, but definitely noticeable.
