The reason that houses are less affordable today is that real income is lower today. 1948 to 1973 real income increased every year, 50 years of declining real income compared with cost of living is the real reason for unaffordable housing.

The cost of building a house today is pretty much in line with the cost of that house in 1970 when you factor in inflation. Some of the costs are higher such as the better insulation and windows which also make the house more affordable every year.

I disagree that most people are happy with it, out of a lack of a viable option we settle for it. The insurance industry makes out very well with supplemental coverage that is too expensive for a lot of seniors. The cost of healthcare is obfuscated for a reason.

Several legal residents of PA, Not criminals, have been arrested by ICE. Residents with green card status are now afraid of deportation with no due process or reason. Senators Fetterman and McCormick are silent. No representatives have been heard. Are we now deporting based on race or nationality?
