Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Unusual for Camilla Tominey, to actually listen and not talk over others. I suspect the civilised discussion had a lot to do with it being overseen by Victoria Derbyshire. Better than the shambles that often occur when Paddy O'connor and Matt Chorely present the programme. 210
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I sometimes find myself wondering how many others have died in this way, that we don't know about because their bodies haven't washed up on a shore somewhere 🤔 😪 010
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Shame Cameron wasn't so outspoken before the referendum. Romesh Ranganathan filmed a documentary from Rwanda, where it was made plain you couldn't speak freely, especially where you might be overheard. Rwanda is not a safe country, it's just good at appearing to be to the naive. 000

Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/07/2026There is no war actually in the USA so it isn't a valid reason for not holding elections. But Trump might not be aware of this, especially as he lives completely within a world of his own making, rather than the real world. 371

Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 19/07/2026The obvious difference between Rayner and Farage being, she resigned from her positions as Deputy Leader and Housing Minister and, following an investigation by HMR & C, paid what she owed; while NF denies wrong doing and remains Leader of Reform. 110
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 30/06/2026She fails spectacularly to see that she doesn't need to compete with Rupert Lowe or Farage. She appears now, to be more in league with extremist Lowe, than the majority of the electorate. She urgently needs replacing with someone with a much more common sense approach towards refugees. 000
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 27/06/2026I don't think Trump has ever had the mental acuity to run anything. That's his problem, family wealth has been used to hide his lack of intelligence and ability to grasp the basics. He's an overgrown, uneducable spoilt child: a dangerous one. 100
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 22/06/2026The best place for Ed is the back benches. He's the bane of those of us living in villages and countryside, especially his support for pylons over offshore and undergrounding, unlike many other European ministers in similar roles. 100
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/06/2026This is all wrong in so many ways but mainly because it seems the membership will have no say in the matter. Seems Burnham supporters don't want a leadership election, including Starmer. Are they afraid Starmer will win: again. 010
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Vance's statement hasn't aged well. The Straits of Hormuz are closed again because of actions by the US and Israel according to Iran's leader breaking the agreement. 000
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 24/05/2026Starmer needs to ignore Reform and all the rest of the hate filled bigots. Leave current laws alone: they don't need changing. It won't win Labour votes: the opposite. It's unfair, draconian, not British. Gaining British Citizenship is not easy and it's expensive. Most Brits would fail the test. 011
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 11/05/2026Doing exactly what Farage wants them to do.Why do these foolish MPs not see that Farage and others like him have been baiting them to do just this? What took the Tories 14 years to demolish will take longer than 20 months to put right. Do they really want PM Farage and his ex- Tory cabinet? 173
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 03/05/2026Did you not listen to, and understand , the King's speech to Congress. It's obvious to us Brits that Trump and "his Republicans" obviously didn't. Top subtle for some and they kept applauding anyway. 100
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 03/05/2026Farage was due to appear on this morning's Kuenssberg but, having introduced Party Leaders and representatives, she informed us that he had changed his mind. Anyone else immediately think of another Leader who failed to turn up for Leader interviews? 011
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/04/2026It's not as if he wasn't already displaying behaviours that sounded warning alarms long before this second term. Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/04/2026It has when that process deems it unnecessary to tell the PM or Foreign Secretary what the vetting discovered. Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/04/2026No he didn't. He said it was regarded as a borderline case (something to do with no red bix having been ticked) so he gave the clearance. At least, that's my understanding from watching the whole thing. Emily Thornbury took time questioning this too. 000
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/04/2026I believe the current vetting system was put in place by Tory governments in 2017 and 2022 121
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 21/04/2026She held Shadow positions in Corbyn's Opposition Cabinet is the most likely reason Starmer hasn't appointed her to his Cabinet. 100
Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 19/04/2026With the number of trials in limbo, thanks to the Tories, I can see why some might think fewer trials by jury are needed to sort this out. However, it's neither a good nor fair decision as it's the backbone of British justice. More courts, judges, lawyers are needed to speed things up. 000

Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 01/04/2026I think he's had his photo taken in Clacton a few times: though they could have been photoshopped/AI? Who knows? He's probably been to the U.S more often. 110

Julia Fletcher @jff1.bsky.social · 07/03/2026His target audience is drug addicts including those in their 70s. I agree that his "peace plan" is complete fantasy. You can no more 'talk to Putin about his nuclear arms' than you can Netanyahu, Xi Jinping or Trump. World peace and disarmament is an ideal but highly unlikely. This is not Utopia. 010
