They want more MOMS at home. And not just because they hate women. Their *economic* model depends on unpaid labor. And the most effective way to coerce unpaid labor is to create a second class of people and teach them that they're only "naturally" suited for labor they're forced to do for free.
From the NYT:

Not Just More Babies: These Republicans Want More Parents at Home
As the Trump administration shrinks federal child care programs, Republicans are backing policies they hope will allow more parents to scale back at work.

Listened to this interview with Oren Cass @vox.com where he's described as 'somewhat unusual for an economist'. Yes, in that he is not really an economist. Maybe a petty insight, but when asked what data supports his argument, he was like 'that's the wrong question.' www.vox.com/politics/407...

Trump is not an aberration is American democracy. He is the embodiment of a tradition older than the nation itself - cruelty and violence towards minoritised groups with a promise of economic gains for the country’s racial majority.

The 1923 Oregon legislature was colloquially known as the "Klan legislature" because the majority of members were either Klan members or sympathizers. One bill they passed required that history education be suitably patriotic, outlawing materials that spoke "slightingly" of the founders.
60
GENERAL LAWS OF OREGON, 1923 [Chaps. 39, 40
CHAPTER 39
AN ACT
[S. B. 57]
To define the principles to govern those who are charged with the selec-
tion of text-books for use in the public schoels.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
Section 1. It shall be the duty of every board, commission, committee or officer charged with the selection of text-books for use in the public schools to select and install text-books on American history and civil government which adequately stress the services rendered by the men who achieved our national independence, who established our form of constitutional government, and who preserved our federal union. No textbook shall be used in our schools which speaks slightingly of the founders of the republic, or of the men who preserved the union, or which belittles or undervalues their work.
Approved by the governor February 12, 1923.
Filed in the office of the secretary of state February 12, 1923.
