And Eve Dallas is still an automatic grab for me so I jumped when Netgalley emailed about PERFECT IN DEATH by J. D. Robb (2/2027). #ewgc
COver for "Perfect In Death" featuring a black cover with concentric circles in red blue and black. A tech design in the blue bands, a drawing of a head in the first red, and the city skyline in the innermost red circle.

SIDE STREAMS by Yasmin Adele Majeed (3/2027), keeps crossing my path so I grabbed it for my TBR. This is a debut featuring a queer Filipino/Pakistani American woman trying to connect with her past and understand a mysterious art installation. #ewgc
Cover of "Side Streams" featuring Abstract art panel squares over panels of a red suspension bridge.

For titles that have caught my eye... I'm always looking for more nature writing and this first US edition just happens to be published by Michigan State University Press. UP: A SCIENTIST'S GUIDE TO THE MAGIC ABOVE US by Lucy Rogers #ewgc
The cover for the book up featuring the title in a sky as if one were lying on the ground looking up. There's grass and flowers surrounding the title information and what looks like a hawk flying in the blue as well as exhaust trails from something like a plane.

So... I've also not read as many ARCs and some of the ones I have are for Library Journal's Free Virtual Event, Day of Dialog, on October 22nd. Hope you'll come out! #ewgc www.libraryjournal.com/event/librar...

High on my TBR is BLAZE by Emma Donoghue—purely because it’s Emma Donoghue—but it’s also set in 2040 and narrated by a pigeon… so I’m very curious. #ewgc
Cover of "Blaze": The cover is bright orange and features the silhouettes of five pigeons in flight over a hazy city skyline.

The archivist in me is curious about this one—TOMORROW WE’LL BE PREY by Anna Polonyi (2/2027). It features a Parisian archivist who discovers a manuscript recalling a centuries-old mystery. #ewgc
Cover of "Tomorrow We’ll Be Prey". Title is a stylized painting of a large black wolf with bright blue eyes and open mouth (the color matches the title and author text color) in an outdoor scene with trees and foliage in red and the slight skyline of a city just showing behind the trees. Very like an old tapestry.

One of the books I'm eyeing is HOW TO BE LESS USEFUL by Priyanka Mattoo (11/2026) that sounds a little too close to home. Part memoir and self help it’s “about reclaiming pleasure in mid-life vs. our curated efficiency and optimization. #ewgc
Cover for How to be Less Useful: A reader with an open book in hand only visible chest down to feet sitting on a lounger or settee in a Victorian style dress. The room has a bookcase with gold embossed books spines showing and the walls have an ornate wallpaper or fabric like covering.

Hi All! I’m enmeshed in a separate project—everyone consider Library Journal’s Day of Dialog on Oct 22nd—so I haven't gotten through much outside of that, but I’m side-eyeing a bunch of other titles for when I’m through... or possibly as little bites between my required reads. #ewgc

I liked "Death at the White Hart" enough that I requested THE PARKWOOD MURDERS by Chris Chibnall. I got approved while I was out, so that's now on my TBR.

Book Cover for "Mr. Mendlebee's Pandimensional Literary Repository (and Yarn)" by Rebecca Key. Picture is crowded shelves covered in books and dangling yarn. The title and author are centered in a gold plate, like a sign. There is also a black cat in the corner.

A WALL IS ALSO A ROAD by Annalee Newitz (10/16) just popped up on NetGalley and totally grabbed my attention from cover to description... plus I just generally love their work. Thank you, Joe, for pointing it out!!!
Book cover for "A Wall is Also a Road": Background in deep reds and purple images are celestial with a planet with rings and what looks like a galaxy, but also includes tentacles curling out from behind an ancient Greek style mosaic of a woman's face looking up.

I want to revisit DEARLY DEPARTED by Chip Pons (6/26) because I was approved and loved it! This is an interesting take on grumpy/sunshine, has a deeply moving look at grief, and gives all new meaning to the concept of a "Shadow Daddy". #ewgc #booksky #librarians
Cover is in dark blues and greens with a floral motif centering a male couple embracing--one in a suit jacket and open button-down shirt and the other shown from the back in a flannel shirt.
