A leadership that disempowers its own movement ultimately weakens itself. Members are not coming to beg for the restoration of our democratic rights; we are bringing the ideas, energy and organising power needed to get Britain back on track. My latest: tribunemag.co.uk/2026/07/for-...

For a Democratic Party
With Labour soon to hold elections for the National Executive Committee, it’s time to bury the antidemocratic legacies of the Starmer era and return power to the members.

After years of attacks on member democracy, it’s time to give members back their voice in the Labour Party. From defending one member one vote, to full and fair selections, to ending the misuse of suspensions. Use the tool to tell Andy Burnham - we need to see change.

This is excellent and a relief for so many struggling with the cost of transport. We also need to deliver on expansion of bus networks to reconnect communities after so many routes have been lost under Tory rule. Let’s turn back the cuts which have isolated so many areas and cut off opportunities.

Congratulations to @andyburnham on his election as leader of the Labour Party. Today he talked about an end to the factionalism which has plagued Labour in recent years and the steps he will take for party unity. Let’s start by reinstating Diane Abbott. actionnetwork.org/petitions/re...

In the aftermath of the UK Supreme Court ruling on trans people and biological sex, a really concerning thing among cisgender legal advocacy groups has been adopting wholly the legal concept that trans women ARE biological men and trans men ARE biological women, as given in the ruling.

So many liberals on this site convinced that Trump is now a Putin plant. I can’t believe it has to be said but the world isn’t split into two neat camps of people whose political ideology revolves around NATO vs undercover spys for Putin.

The UK welcomes Ukrainians but shuts out Palestinians — even as UK-made weapons fuel their genocide. Safe routes for some; moral panic and cruelty for others. There’s a name for that: anti-Palestinian racism.

Both the Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition suggesting that Ukrainians are deserving of sanctuary, but Palestinians are not. That parliament has created legal processes for Ukrainians, not for Palestinians. What do we call that?

LGBTQIA minors make up 40% of the endangered minor runaway population. They are 120% more likely to be unhoused. They are also uniquely at risk for exploitation and trafficking. This is breathtakingly evil.

And that’s on blairite human rights lawyers, everyone. If Labour don’t challenge the ideology of the far right, the far right will claim the ground at the ballot box. Its not rocket science.

We all saw this coming. Now it’s time for the UK Labour government to decide, will it follow America into carrying out one of the most horrific crimes of ethnic cleansing in our lifetime, or will it defend Palestinians and with that, international law.

Membership numbers absolutely matter for Labour. Tories - funded by a handful of extremely wealthy donors and they essentially own the press. Labour - depend on the funds from its members and their time to deliver leaflets, doorknock etc.

Important moment for folks raving about Trump after the ceasefire. His role in bringing about a ceasefire in Gaza isn’t out of compassion for Palestinians. We are already seeing Israel ramping up attacks on the West Bank and the forced displacement of Palestinian families, with Trumps backing.

When you tear apart and chop away at the services people depend on day to day, voters feel the impact here and now. If you then ask them, would you like us to chop away at them some more - of course the answer is no. It’s by no means a green light to cut climate spending.

Disgusted by the Met police. Today they arrested Chris Nineham lead steward dragging him to the ground. I’ve seen him lead hundreds of stewards, ensuring peaceful and safe protests for 15 months. Anyone with sense can see this blatant attempt to manufacture a clash between protestors and police.

Biden will be remembered as a spineless man who held international law in contempt. From the economic warfare he waged against millions of Cubans to enabling Israel to commit the crime of genocide against Palestinians. He represents everything that’s wrong with the democrats

It’s hard to celebrate the reverse of something that should never have happened. It’s even harder to credit Biden when he should’ve overturned this 4 years ago. Clearly crushing the Cuban economy was more important, which the US continues to do with its illegal blockade.
