Universal basic income has been found to have nothing but salutary effects over and over again but this country refuses to enact it because they imagine $500 or whatever is too much money for poor people. Like, be serious.

That’s why you can’t have designated “cheap rent” areas rather than making housing cheaper overall imo

I had to read this several times to be sure, because I am still somehow unable to grasp that a human person, living on a planet full of people making music, spoke the words 'It's not really enjoyable to make music'

If you've got a professional account on Instagram switch it to a personal account before the 30th, or Facebook is going to essentially have full licence rights to everything you put on there 🤷

The reason the anti-abortion conservatives needed (and I mean NEEDED) to get rid of the "risk to life and health" exception to anti-abortion laws was that EVERY PREGNANCY risks life and health. Every. One.

Someone should do lit drops describing how Elon’s porn robot has taken the school photos of kids and turned it into child sexual assault material.

All you Libby users borrowing digital books and audiobooks through your library cards, you can set your preferences to human authors and artists ONLY. Click the middle button at the bottom, then "Content Controls" under Settings. You'll find "AI Contributions" there. Click in to it to make changes.

Libby menu interface showing Content Controls: AI Contributions with the Hunan authors only and Human narrators only options selected.

I found “the $30k isn’t life changing thread” and I’m thinking shutting down economics isn’t enough: we need to burn the whole field to the ground, salt the fucking earth, and erect warning placards so that future generations avoid the poisoned ground the field stood on.

Tonight I had the pleasure of speaking to the Cobb County School board. I and many others are showing up to let current leadership know we demand better from our school system—and no amount of pretty-looking statistics can quell the demands of a constituency.
