We now started the important work of updating the #plant #redlist for #Denmark! This work is done by Nikolaj Sass Ebsen and Peter Wind, two of Denmark's most knowing #botanists. Work is coordinated by us at @au.dk and expected to be finished end 2026-2027. #dknatur #threatenedspecies #iucn

Our new paper and software tool PointsToWood is out! Led by Harry Owen and Targeted at high performance for small branches, PointsToWood performs #deeplearning enabled leaf-wood semantic segmentation of high resolution #TLS point clouds. 🌿 🌲 🌳 👇performance on unseen tropical data

Image shows leaf (black) wood (red) separation by PointsToWood on an unseen tropical forest dataset from Cameroon. Even though we only trained on European forest data, the diversity and high quality of our training dataset results in excellent performance in other biomes.

So where in #dknatur lives the highest number of #redlist #species? Our #Biodiversity-map work at Ecoscience shows that this is likely the place with known occurrences of a whopping 113 #redlisted #species(!) in a 1.3 km2 area in N Zealand. From fungi and plants to lichens and butterflies. # @au.dk
