I deleted huge swathes of reflexive writing from my upcoming book as it felt too self-focussed. I want the book to focus on the lives of my nonhuman informants. The reviews are in and they want the reflexivity. I get it, it's important, but it feels so cringe to write about myself! #Multispecies

This week I've been speaking to delegates at the EAZA Annual Conference in Paris about small carnivore conservation and the risks posed to humans, animals and the environment by unethical civet coffee supply chains. #conservation #kopiluwak #civetcoffee #conference

I've had a great time so far at the Pathways Europe conference meeting with conservationists to discuss the complexities of human-wildlife conflict and coexistence in a changing world. It was a pleasure to bring civets into the fray as a species heavily traded despite the One Health consequences.

I had the best time speaking at @yorkfestofideas.bsky.social about the commercialisation of coffee, science, and bodies. And, 80% of the audience volunteered to try the world's first coffee predigested by humans! #Coffee #AcademicSky #Ethics

Calling #AcademicSky - honestly, is an academic website a good idea for early career researchers? I'm considering my next academic move (next postdoc / next lectureship / not sure) and wondering if I should put an online portfolio together. Is this a thing? Does anyone care? Pls help!?
