For one day, we put our heads together to tackle something outside our roadmap, an initiative we knew would still delight our customers. This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more Dev Innovation Days and more updates 😉 021

Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 16/05/2025I hope Solid continues to grow and to thrive, but it needs a lot of love to take a serious place in the Frontend Dev sphere (imo). Docs are too minimal/incomplete*, ecosystem does not feel well maintained* and everything feels a bit too unpolished* (*compare to React) Hope they’ll make it happen! 000
Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 16/05/2025Both tipped the scales in my (at that point still hopeful) perception of Solid and its’ ecosystem, but as I said there’s no fit and no reason to stay. We were in the midst of rewriting *everything* in Solid, but will move (in parts, back) to React now. 100
Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 16/05/2025After months of work in Solid, this week we ran into a couple bugs that made me realize this isn’t a good fit for my team. One was a tooling bug, which was easily resolved, but another was a but in - I guess - solid router? But parametrized routes do not react to the parameter changing. 200
Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 05/05/2025The only other explanation feels like it could be pnpm issues that I’m facing. But everything is so vague and expo redboxes do not give sufficient information when something module related breaks that I spent 4 days on this issue, which started with flatlists “suddenly” being funky. 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠 010
Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 05/05/2025Expo 53 broke flash-list for me on an install (cannot find tslib) until i deleted all generated content and modules, reinstalled and reran as well. Felt like I was losing my mind! 100

Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 19/12/2024I think the biggest part is signaling which data is read only and enforcing that on a sync level, I went through the docs a bit on a whim but don’t think something came up. Interested in hearing your thoughts! 100
Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 19/12/2024@jamespearce.bsky.social hey James, is there an existing guide or something on the horizon for (granular) sync permissions? E.g. if I want a transaction/mutation to be able to be rejected at the sync level for a specific reason X or specific data Y, how do I go about that? 110

Jeroen Peeters @jeroenpeeters.be · 19/12/2024Pretty close to the stack that I want, a nice to have would be for it to be deployable through SST, but I’m already really happy that with the Durable Objects update @tinybase.bsky.social will be integral to collect all of my “operating” apps into one, sick, @expo.dev project 🙏 130
