Making pot roast for our upcoming vacation in Mammoth. Will bag it and freeze it for boiling-in-the bag suppers. Should be just the thing for those cold evenings in the high sierras. Can't wait!

Browning meat on the stove top. And now for adding onions.

Now we add the beef broth, wine, garlic, and herbs. Let it simmer and when it comes up, in the oven it goes for the next two hours. Next will be the carrots, celery, and potatoes. When it's ready for freezing, I will add frozen corn, and fresh cut string beans.

Just what I DIDN'T want him to do; work on the roof. But he had to repair the rotted wood on the chimney chase while the roof tiles weren't there, and it's not the roofers' job. So I'm sitting outside keeping an eye on him.

Hubby took his dad to a coin show, and he picked some coins up for ME! What a lovely surprise! An 1888 farthing, an 1894 ha'penny, an 1870 penny, and an 1882 half a crown! The second photo is an Imperial coin from India that my sister gave me some years ago, already set in its bezel.

My God, it's full of stars! Well, holes from the roofers taking off the roof tiles and nails. I can certainly recommend concrete roof shingles. They protected the roof for over 30 years as much as they could from the builders who didn't know how to properly flash the valleys.

I'm glad you got past my typo. CAT, is what I meant. Sweet, mostly quiet, tons of love. We got a 5year old cat from the local shelter who had been abused. It was tough, at first, but she has really blossomed into a loving kitty who loves to go camping with us.
