I don't think I've ever in my life had an email from a PR before saying: "I would like to encourage you NOT to feature/review/air/mention this release". Mad! Which means I'm not going to mention it. Probably.

It's 29 years today since I climbed aboard a train from Penzance to London with the aim of starting a new life. I was absolutely shitting myself but it worked out... eventually. Up there with meeting my wife and quitting drink and drugs in the best decisions I've made

The 80s, when a cartel of coked up cunts got stinking rich and we've been paying for it ever since (and watching them get richer)

Nice bit of autumn sunshine. Shame about the overgrown school boys jumping back into their shorts. Have some dignity, man, your 47

Mate, my kids love burning around with these trolleys and it gives them a sense of purpose when they're in Morrisons, which otherwise is the abyss. What gives?

It's weird when people get performatively snotty about prog and then it turns out they love Gong, Hawkwind, Soft Machine and Van Der Graaf Generator 😂

Went to my 4yo son's lovely harvest festival earlier. It'll seem all the more quaint in 10 years when supply lines have collapsed and we're getting by eating dog food

I love all the Faust - in whatever iteration - that has surfaced over the past few years. It's great stuff and the equal of anything they did in the 1970's. This is exciting: daily.bandcamp.com/features/fau...

This is a weird story and a gift to Brendan O'Neills of the world. I've been watching The Age Of Uncertainty, a 70s economics series presented by JK Galbraith, and tonight's episode contained the N word. Though I guess nobody is going to censor it as no other fucker is watching it

All long running TV shows diminish in quality at some point and Slow Horses has inevitably capitulated. It was a good run.

I met Ammar in Paris a few years ago and he's a lovely chap but sticking Roast Beef Monster Munch at no 63 - and claiming Pickled Onion was the original "classic" - makes a mockery of this whole list www.theguardian.com/food/2026/se...

Apparently kids think Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy is naff but my son and I have been laughing most nights reading a second hand copy I picked up on eBay. The only challenge so far has been explaining to him what the blim hole on page 38 is.

Just had a delightful colonoscopy. If you're of a certain age like me then it's definitely worth picking up a poo test from your GP. I had bowel cancer when I was 43 and that colonoscopy was a bummer if you'll pardon the pun.

Gutted to learn that Catherine Ringer of Les Rita Mitsouko has died of cancer aged 68. If you don't know the band then they're definitely worth checking out - all the albums were good but especially the debut as well as The No Comprendo, produced by Tony Visconti.

Will there be more Oasis material or are they just continuing to rinse the fans because they can? It's mad that they're given such cultural capital when you remember Noel Gallagher hasn't written a decent song since 1995.
