Hi tiddlydump. I've been a user of Workbench since about 2019. And I've worked at Posit since 2021 helping our government customers use our pro tools in enterprise environments. Happy to have a convo if you want to chat specifics about the pain you are facing.

Here you go
The first chart is a line chart of seasonally adjusted monthly private construction spending, in billions of dollars, from December 2023 to July 2026. Both lines share a zero-based scale. All other private construction starts at $138.3B, peaks near $142B in mid-2024, then declines gradually to $128.3B, a drop of about 7%. Data center spending starts at $2.0B and rises steadily to $6.3B, an increase of about 215%, with the steepest growth in 2026. On this shared scale, the data center line stays close to zero, so its growth appears small next to the much larger total.

The second chart is a pair of horizontal stacked bars showing data centers' share of total private construction spending. The share was 1.4% in December 2023 and 4.7% in July 2026.

July 2026 figures are preliminary. Source: U.S. Census Bureau.

I was looking at metrics at my (admittedly New Zealand) University recently, and I can make a very strong case that most of the research code being written here is ATM in R, and it is the Linga Franca of evidence discussions (where speed is not the optimisation, understanding of method is)

Thanks! All answer are acceptable. I end up in Google Sheets when I need to share a small amount of data with a teammate who doesn’t code but I need them to verify something about the data

A. When you use code to **analyze data** outside of an IDE, what are using instead? B. When you analyze data without using code, what are you using to do it? #rstats #databs #pydata

I created a new large language model called Bev. You give Bev a list of dinner options and it returns equal probability for all. It then asks you which you prefer, and when you pick one it then discloses a preference for another one.

Putting on my sociology hat to build on what Tanya says: it’s important to “see” ourselves as a community, and having lost an online space where most gathered, conf is now the place where we are reflected back at ourselves and recognize ourselves as a community. Long live #positconf

What is "real intelligence" among humans? Some have extremely low intelligence, and we may label them disordered, while some lack sufficient intelligence to be held legally or morally accountable for their actions, and in none of these cases do we deny their humanity.

I like tmux and herdr but can’t find a trminal based markdown previewer I like so I end up runner herdr in a Positron terminal. It’s a little awkward. I don’t need all of Positron when working this way. Maybe we need a Positron multiplexer of some kind.

You should disclose if you took a train, car, or bike to work. And if you took an artificial path like sidewalk or road. And if you wore shoes. And if you skipped protein or meds at breakfast. And got less than 8 hours of sleep… Otherwise I don’t trust you or your fitness

Updated my WNBA dashboard. Great if you are new to the league! I also use it as an example of how much interaction you can get with #quarto, reactable, and plotly, all connected with crosstalk, without needing #Shiny. Claude added a bit of custom js to go further. github.com/jeremy-allen... #RStats
