You mean OpenAI paid people to use their product to find vulnerabilities in the code, the exploit leaked (wonder who did that) before the fix was ready, and now they’re taking credit for fixing it, but not for causing it in the first place?
Cutting-edge Al models, such as those from US giants OpenAl and Google, were used by Wiz and other groups to uncover PHP's weak spots in August.
This was kept under wraps while a fix was developed.
OpenAl called the flaws ¿one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory", adding that it "marks a new phase, where Al can find security bugs with internet-scale impact".
Separately to Wiz, security firm Calif found the flaws as part of an OpenAl-funded audit of PHP's code.
'The trouble with tools like Al is that the moment all the information's out there, people can weaponise it very, very quickly,"

My decision on Russia is a very simple one. I am in the process of negotiating Peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and don't want to do anything that will drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table. Great progress is being made, and that includes current hostage negotiations! Signing that document at this time will do that, and I can sign it later, or any time that I want! Perhaps more importantly, Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing, and I want to keep it that way, and will, unless stupid people get in the way. Lastly, Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World. Zelenskyy doesn't care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him,

It's unclear what if anything Parton knew about any of this. Nozell originally told the Herald: "Dolly never had anything to do with the company." But lawyers from Parton's estate later told them not to use

Al agents, meet double agents. OpenAI said it identified, fired, and reported to the FBI an employee who bugged its office. The employee, a Saudi national later identified by law enforcement as Abdulrahman Alfozan, was arrested last week and charged with illegally recording company communication. (He appears to have some ties to members of the Saudi business elite.) Among the evidence against him: chatbot logs about how to install recording devices.
Stanup espionage has been pursued for far less (see: the Deel-Rippling drama over corporate HR software), but the FBI's quick work and public rollout of the arrest shows how high the stakes are for the US government and frontier labs.
The arrest comes days before the White House Al task force's first meeting. Its chair, Jay Clayton, cited the case as proof the group is needed.

Three National Guardsmen in camo (appears to be a white or Latinx guardsman on the left, and two Black guardsmen on the middle and left) stand in front of a large white metal DC Board of Elections drop box at what appears to be a brown stone (granite?) entrance to George Washington University with a black bust of Washington on top. The guardsmen are blocking the path to the drop box for any pedestrians that may walk by. Presumably, they would move, if asked, and probably politely, but how many people will just not approach so as to avoid asking/possible confrontation? Their very presence is intimidating. People who are allowed to carry guns for work need to stay the fuck away from election sites while they are working. This is not complicated.

AHM Statement on OpenAl's October 6 Release of Mathematical
Documents
Yesterday, on October 6th, 2026, OpenAl - which is currently defending lawsuits against accusations of illegal plagiarism, copyright infringement, and trademark dilution - released a repository of manuscripts purporting to contain solutions to a number of high-profile problems in mathematics.
Mathematicians did not ask for this work to be done. The Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, from whom OpenAl has claimed to derive its legitimacy, opened their initial advisory statement by saying that frontier Al corporations should not test advanced mathematical problems on internal models. In ignoring the central premise of the Advisory Group's position, OpenAl has indicated total disregard for the norms of scientific research - norms that guarantee that mathematics remains trustworthy, ethically researched, and in the public interest.
Mathematicians have a particular vision of progress that is informed by history and field-specific considerations. We reject OpenAl's assertion that this release advances our subject, and we urge mathematicians and the public to view the value of this publication model with due skepticism.
Releasing over 700 files at once is not a demonstration of scholarship, but a demonstration of power. We urge mathematicians to discontinue their work with OpenAl and to return to a vision of science that centers human understanding.

The American petrostate, which uses its power and influence in fossil fuels to discipline other countries, has a major competitor in China's powerful electrostate. For now, China is working to cut its own dependency on fuel imports. Its surge of investment into the "new three" —EVs, batteries, and solar—was expected to crush oil demand by five million barrels a day by 2030. It is in the process of remaking the world's energy order. It already makes four-fifths of the world's solar panels—with a virtual lock on key inputs like polysilicon —which are being installed around the globe at a staggering rate. China's largest EV brands are now household names in many parts of the world. BYD dealerships have been reporting a two-fold increase in EV orders since this war began.

Plagiarism is the stealing of ideas or research programs. But in recent years, AI has enabled malignant actors to target people in academia for overlap of sentences, even when the overlapping of sentences has no bearing whatsoever on the stealing of ideas or research programs. The original meaning of plagiarism does not cover mere overlap of sentences. If you simply copy someone else's standard descriptions of scientific set ups, you are guilty of laziness, but not of stealing their ideas. Our original concept of plagiarism is being stretched beyond all recognition by AL.
Where there is an overlap of sentences, but no theft of ideas, most of us do not regard it as a serious charge. Even if it's wrong, it's certainly not an instance of the original charge of plagiarism. And as far as I can tell from the media coverage, Arday has been targeted by this kind of novel AI
"overlap of sentences" method and has not been accused of stealing of ideas and research programs (which are of course serious charges).

No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a greater opportunity to make a Deal than me.
TRAGICALLY, for them, they have failed to take it.
Therefore, today, I am announcing the MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY! This will be Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale.
Their navy is gone, their air force is destroyed, their military factories are now rubble, their currency is worthless, and their country is hanging by a thread.
Today, I am also announcing that ANY country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences. Oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, front companies - It all needs to stop NOW. You know who you are. This will be an ECONOMIC D-DAY, and we need all of our Allies to stand with the United States of America to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat.
These maniacs are on the ropes, and these HISTORIC MEASURES will cripple them and their ability to project terror worldwide. IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. President DONALD J.

The German federal government on Tuesday adopted a draft law that grants the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Verfassungsschutz) wide operational powers for the first time since the two agencies were established. Until now the services were limited to gathering information and passing it to police, prosecutors or the Bundeswer. Under the reform they may independently neutralise threats through sabotage, data manipulation and other active measures when conventional state instruments fail.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt of the SU announced the change at a press conference, declaring that Germany is beginning a new era for its intelligence services and transforming them into true secret services. The legislation, prepared jointly by the Interior Ministry and Minister for Special Assignments Nina Warken of the CDU, introduces the category of "active measures." These allow the agencies to act on their own when a detected threat to national security, the lives and health of citizens or comparable legal interests cannot otherwise be averted. Warken stressed that the BND remains fundamentally a reconnaissance service, yet argued that continued passive observation in the face of direct threats identified during intelligence work would be negligent.
The ministers listed concrete examples of the new authority. Services may plant defective components in goods deliveries, hack into the IT systems of drone factories or chemical weapons laboratories for sabotage purposes, disable servers belonging to state-sponsored hacking groups or disinformation actors, and deliberately falsify data so that it becomes useless to an adversary. Dobrindt explained the data-manipulation power by noting that if foreign powers steal German information with the intention of turning it against the country, the services must be able to alter that data. He compared the logic to the neutralization of explosives: the same principle…

This part is both new and gives some insight into what’s been done to 60 Minutes:
The report also says Wyden was interviewed about his investigation in March by then-60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi for a segment the news program was reporting about Wall Street banks' and the US Virgin Islands government's relationship with Epstein.
Two months later, CBS News fired Alfonsi after she publicly criticized CBS News leadership and editor-in-chief Bari Weiss's editorial decisions involving a different segment she reported. Neither the Wyden interview nor the broader Epstein story has aired.

"Iran is expecting a very long war," said Nasr, adding Iran no longer viewed a negotiated settlement as feasible. "They are following a very methodological strategy of forcing the US as far away from Iran as possible: out of the Gulf, Syria, Iraq, and having them holed up in Israel and Jordan."
Iran has intensified strikes against Kuwait and Bahrain in recent weeks. It has forced Washington to reposition soldiers and airmen, who once relied on a necklace of vulnerable bases across the Gulf, further afield to Jordan, Israel and beyond.

Iran has neutralized Trump's threat by matching their targeting to each kind of threat. Gulf oil facilities to their Iranian counterparts. The threat to civilians has been neutralized by a counter-personnel threat.
This does not mean that Hormuz will magically open before US capitulation. Iran will decide who transits Hormuz. Is that now acceptable to Trump? Otherwise the war is not over.

Border Patrol and ICE should do their jobs to make sure our borders are secure and violent criminals here illegally are deported. Both organizations need real accountability and should not be operating a detention facility in North Carolina. They are killing and detaining American citizens, including people with no criminal records and it must stop.

This detention center will open in my community, but it will affect yours too, making it easier to detain folks up and down the east coast. This makes us all less safe.
At the same time, North Carolina and its surrounding states are a so-called detention desert. Most detainees in the region are often taken to facilities farther south — as happened during the immigration crackdown in Charlotte last year — which costs more time, money and resources. Immigration lawyers and advocates say that a new detention center near the Virginia border could greatly increase agents’ capacity to detain more people across neighboring states.

The agency has to find bed space in places that are perceived as “more friendly” toward such facilities and do not prohibit them, said Claire Trickler-McNulty, a former ICE official who has served in Republican and Democratic administrations.

If a deal is struck to end the Iranian conflict because it is believed that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be protected from Iranian terrorism and Iran still possesses the capability to destroy major Gulf oil infrastructure, then Iran will be perceived as being a dominate force requiring a diplomatic solution.
This combination of Iran being perceived as having the ability to terrorize the Strait in perpetuity and the ability the inflict massive damage to Gulf oil infrastructure is a major shift of the balance of power in the region and over time will be a nightmare for Israel.
Also, it makes one wonder why the war started to begin with if these perceptions are accurate. I personally am a skeptic of the idea that Iran cannot be denied the ability to terrorize the Strait and the region cannot protect itself against Iranian military capability.
It is important we get this right.

Surovell said that practical considerations weren't the only thing motivating the decision not to exercise the retirement-age tactic. "Wiping out the entire supreme court is an incredibly extreme step to take over a decision you don't like," Surovell said.
When I pointed out that the president of the United States has commanded multiple GOP states to maximally gerrymander precisely in order to hold power while his approval rating hovers in the 30s—itself a rather extreme move-Surovell acknowledged the point. But he added that Democrats had successfully passed a hard-fought referendum to redraw the map under fast-moving circumstances. "We went through this referendum to try to protect American democracy," Surovell said.
Still, many Democrats will look at this situation and note that Republicans keep finding ways around procedural obstacles, while Democrats keep getting stymied by them. After the U.S. Supreme Court killed the protection against racial gerrymanders, it took Tennessee only a few days to wipe out a Democratic district by carving up the Black population in Memphis. In Florida, Republicans promptly rushed through a map that eliminated four Democratic districts, having zero qualms about it even though it faces substantial legal challenges. Republicans in other Southern states are expected to quickly follow suit, which could give Republicans a net gain of five seats—or possibly six or seven —in the redistricting wars.
When I asked Surovell about this takeaway —that Republicans keep finding ways around obstacles and Democrats don't-he rejected the premise, noting that the successful referendum resulted in the expenditure of around $100 million. "I don't think that was insignificant," Surovell told me, adding that it's still likely that Democrats will win two of the four lost seats.
Virginia Democrats still plan to appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court. But Surovell confirmed that even a good ruling would be unlikely to impact this cycle, due to that May 12 deadline. Of course, Virginia and many other Democratic states can redistrict next year in order to offset GOP gerrymanders, and do so in time for the 2028 elections. So, hey:
There's always next cycle, right?

Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named
TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them. The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, and gave them fair warning to stop.
The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom. Right now, U.S. Marines have custody of the vessel. The TOUSKA is under U.S. Treasury Sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. We have full custody of the ship, and are seeing what's on board!

Negotiators say a "stalemate" persists in the US-Iran talks in Pakistan over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Two people briefed on the negotiations said discussions over the reopening of the strait remained a sticking point.
One of the people said Iran insisted it retained control over the waterway and could charge vessels a toll. Iranian negotiators are refusing options for "joint control", the person said, despite a high-level meeting between US vice-president JD Vance and Iranian wartime leader Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
Negotiators are having a working dinner, one of the people said, which will be followed by technical discussions on Saturday night.

In 2017 I was notified by a former volunteer who helped on political campaigns and worked for a member of the CA delegation that Eric Swalwell fired an intern for turning down a sexual advance of his, she was devastated and called me since she was still a student in Georgetown and was interning. I spoke to her and said how horrible that is and tried to console her, it is on this day I started my Eric Swalwell book. Fast forward, he runs for President and while I wasn't asked to do oppo on him I had a list of numbers and women who had stories but didn't want to go on the record.
At the time a contract reporter to CNN and another reporter for Politico had similar stories in the works.
Swalwell drops out, so any interest from these victims to continue to chat went away. They didn't want someone like him to be President but being 1 of 435 | suppose their conscious was able to deal with that, so I and the two other reporters respected that and moved on with our lives.
Fast forward again to 2025, Swalwell makes noises about running for Governor - I'm like "ok, weird flex, and slowly (I am on otherweird flex," and slowly (I am on other campaigns) try to put this all together again.
But I was busy so I tweeted it out the day he announced about his sketchy history and it got like 125-135k impressions and likely had reporters calling him asking about my tweet.
I received a cease and desist from Eric Swalwell's campaign, my initial reaction was to chop it up into confetti and record me putting it at the bottom of a bird cage to catch bird poop.
But, I was also in the running to work for a candidate running in Swalwell's seat and figured my tweet would hurt my chances of getting that contract so I deleted it. Didn't need to deal with a bullshit fake Cease and Desist and maybe get the contract - campaign didn't materialize and that's ok. There were other items that went into taking down the tweet but that's a side quest story for another day.
I just assumed CA voters and orgs and unions would clearly "vet" this guy and easily find numerous women with stories and that would disqualify him with them.
That did not happen.
In fact the word was "if it hasn't come out now, it won't," and to that I say FUCK YOU.In fact the word was "if it hasn't come out now, it won't," and to that I say FUCK YOU.
Victims take time and it's up to them and them only to tell their story, so the fact that these women and former staffers of his came out with this - god bless them. To be clear my list of women with stories is at 23, and it's now likely longer regarding Swalwell since these stories have been published.
Twenty three women, ALL in their 20's ALL just wanting to do good. All left much worse because of him.
Hard to tweet all of this, I rarely FB, but this is bullshit, there is more oppo out there on the leading candidates for governor. If it gets released great, if not, fine but the last 5 months as I've watched this story develop the number of people I watched just LIE or BULLY to not have the truth come out was eye opening even for a 47 year old guy like me, it fucking sucked.
If you are a guy in campaigns and have had women sign a NDA / to protect someone like an Eric Swalwell, get out of the business and fuck you.
Fuck all these people.Fuck all these people.
***UPDATE*** Three screenshots of a DM conversation that started on 10/31/2020
regarding Swalwell with someone who shall remain nameless, I also blocked out some other names since they don't deserve to be lit up.
When Swalwell's campaign sent me a Cease and Desist, I was like fuck you, discovery would prove I tweeted out my allegations believing them to be true and not false I had all these convos saved. Case over, he loses. But my tweet alone doesn't produce a news story, only the stories of the victims do. I am very proud of of the women who came forward, but that how stuff like this gets out, there isn't a cool shortcut here folks.

And it's been confirmed numerous times
In what ways has it been confirmed?
I didn't realize it was actually wider known.
The two women I know don't want ne to speak on their behalf.
I should say other folks have repeated back to me allegations as well

All U.S. Ships, Aircraft, and Military Personnel, with additional Ammunition, Weaponry, and anything else that is appropriate and necessary for the lethal prosecution and destruction of an already substantially degraded Enemy, will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with. If for any reason it is not, which is highly unlikely, then the "Shootin' Starts," bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before. It was agreed, a long time ago, and despite all of the fake rhetoric to the contrary - NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS and, the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN & SAFE. In the meantime our great Military is Loading Up and Resting, looking forward, actually, to its next Conquest.
AMERICA IS BACK!

The fuel supply crunch has already spurred consumers to embrace these technologies. As the Philippines declared a national energy. emergency on March 24, car shoppers in Manila were crowding into showrooms of the Chinese carmaker BYD and purchasing E.V.s. Solar vendors and installers are reporting a sharp rise in interest from German customers. Heat pump installations are on the rise in Britain. Electric rickshaw sales are booming in Pakistan.
Induction cooktops are selling out at online retailers in India. In Vietnam, a conglomerate reportedly wants to abandon plans to build the country's biggest liquefied natural gas-fired power plant and instead pursue a renewables and battery storage project.
Since the war started, the stock market valuation of each of China's three biggest battery companies has increased by roughly 20 percent, or $70 billion altogether.

Vatican officials briefed on the meeting tell The Free Press that the Pentagon warned Cardinal Christophe Pierre in January that the United States has the military power to do "whatever it wants" and that Pope Leo, the first American-born pontiff, "better take its side.

The site writes that "as tensions escalated," one U.S. official "went so far as to invoke the Avignon Papacy, the period in the 1300s when the French Crown leveraged its military power to dominate the papal authority.

The arrangement was elegant in its circularity: Oil consumers paid dollars for energy, those dollars flowed to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, and from there back into Washington's debt. For 50 years, this petrodollar loop quietly subsidized American borrowing costs and cemented the greenback's role as the world's reserve currency.
The US-Israeli war with Iran has fractured this arrangement - at both ends.
Start with the importing side. Since the strike on Iran on Feb. 28, foreign central banks have been net sellers of Treasuries for five consecutive weeks. Holdings at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York have dropped by roughly $82 billion to $2.7 trillion, the lowest level since 2012.
The 10-year Treasury yield, rather than falling on safe-haven demand as it has in every major recent crisis, climbed from 3.9% at the end of February to above 4.4% within weeks. The rates desk at Bank of America Corp. offered a dry summary: "Foreign official sectors are selling US Treasury bonds."Now consider the exporting side - and why the Iran war is categorically different from all those episodes.
In a normal oil shock, rising prices generate rising revenues for Gulf producers. Petrodollars flow back into dollar-denominated assets, including Treasuries. High oil prices have historically been, paradoxically, supportive of the Treasury market. The shock creates the surplus that generates demand for the bonds.
This time, Gulf producers can't get their oil out. The Strait of Hormuz closure has stranded their barrels along with everyone else's.
Gulf states including Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the UAE collectively cut production by at least 10 million barrels per day in March. Saudi Arabia and the UAE can export reduced volumes through alternative pipelines. But those routes handle only about a quarter of normal Strait throughput at full capacity, and they are under active Iranian drone and missile threat. Qatar declared force majeure on exports of liquified natural gas after strikes on its Ras

Dear Eliot Higgins,
Due to the conflict in the Middle East, the U.S. government has requested all satellite imagery providers voluntarily implement an indefinite withhold of imagery in the designated Area of Interest (AOI). Effective retroactively from March 9, 2026, Planet is moving to a managed access model, extending the publication delay for all new imagery within the designated AOl, and releasing imagery on a case-by-case basis and for urgent, mission-critical requirements or in the public interest. For the media, this model is in line with the media policies of other remote sensing companies. We expect this policy to last through the end of the conflict.
Access to imagery for the rest of the world is unaffected.
These are extraordinary circumstances, and we are doing all we can to balance the needs of all our stakeholders. We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as possible to minimize the impact on data availability to our customers.

NATE SWANSON spent nearly two decades in the U.S. government, including most recently as the National Security Council's director for Iran. Days before the U.S. bombed Iran, Swanson published a piece predicting that Iran would do exactly what it has done should the U.S. attack.
That's expertise President DONALD TRUMP had available to him - until Swanson, an BARACK OBAMA holdover, was "forced out" of his post after a critical tweet from LAURA LOOMER, Swanson said. Neither the White House nor Loomer returned a request for comment.
In his piece for Foreign Policy published Feb. 24, Swanson wrote that Iran would not capitulate after a bombing campaign, but rather escalate and "target global oil flows and international shipping, sending energy prices up and creating a serious political liability for Trump." And indeed, Iran has made scattershot attacks on energy targets and others across the region, as well as throttling passage through the Strait of Hormuz by threatening attacks on ships.

An Israeli security establishment source tells me: "I'd approach this cautiously, with a grain of salt. It's early Monday morning in the U.S., the start of the trading week. Markets opened higher, largely as expected following the weekend reports on the negotiations and the latest statement by Donald Trump. That said, I wouldn't view this move as a final step. We saw a similar pattern last week. Oil prices have also declined, supporting the positive sentiment in the short term. For now, it appears he has bought a few more days roughly into week four, until the Marines arrive and complete their initial deployment and organization phase. The Iranians are already denying it"
