For those (especially scholars of 18th-century France) who might enjoy a productive distraction, any thoughts on the identity of this hotel (which has so far escaped my sleuthing)? It was located, I presume, on the Place des Carmes in Marseille in the mid 1780s. Merci! #18C

In 1764 John Wilkes referred to a 30-yr old friend as a "reformed Jacobite." I'm hoping that someone can confirm that considering the time period and the friend's age Wilkes is referring to a Tory past. #c18th #c18

This is the long-shottiest long shot. I am seeking a particular 1806 copy of Pilgrim's Progress sold to Barter Books in Alnwick after 2014. Its cover is part leather and part marbled paper. Within are inscribed the names of George Ridley's family members. The store no longer has it. I weep. #books
