Good morning to this beautiful conversation between @preetivangani.bsky.social and @jennyqi.bsky.social in @commonmag.bsky.social! 📚💙 Read here: www.thecommononline.org/mother-is-a-...
Photo of Preeti Vangani and book cover of Fifty Mothers, followed by the text:

JQ: What was it like to write these poems in the voice of the mother?
PV: It was frankly the most fun! I was tired of thinking that elegy could only be a container for sorrow and grief's ceaseless complexity. That kind of elegy did no justice to my mother's levity, to the joys she'd birthed for herself and us, to the lightness in my life after her.

Thanks to @commonmag.bsky.social for housing this interview with @preetivangani.bsky.social with such care! Not sure why this is being labeled as adult content--I promise it's very SFW. www.thecommononline.org/mother-is-a-...

Mother is a Kind of Holding: Jenny Qi interviews Preeti Vangani
PREETI VANGANI <br> With vignettes, I could plumb its narrative arc to become a force propelling the book forward. It also felt haunting yet warm that the mothers kept reappearing throughout the life ...

How it feels doing literally any task right now.
Viral photo from some years back of a man nonchalantly mowing his yard with a tornado on the horizon .

I mostly post in my IG story but came here just to say that people at SFO are savages. Stack your own damn luggage trays in the security line. Inconvenience yourself just a tiny bit to not make the world shitty. This might seem minor, but this is exactly why everything sucks now.

NGL, one of my great unadulterated joys the past couple years has been seeing my photos in the Nevada tourism magazine. Thanks for sharing 😊

Hi, I've been "here" for awhile but have yet to post. I've been traveling for the last 7 weeks through European countries with more experience with fascism and posting occasional travelogues on IG. Trying to keep up with writers I like but avoid social media burnout + spiraling + moral ambiguity.

I'm not sure yet if this site has the same community of #freelance writers eager to hear a #callforpitches as the other side, but let's see if we can't find out. @trailsmag.net is looking for pitches for Issues 10 and 11!
