Shit can also happen while you're walking, but you're moving at a slower speed w/o the hindrance of straddling a hunk of metal. So if you trip & fall you can move more freely & don't have as much momentum. Bikes are faster so the impact will be greater, in addition to not having free movement.

I feel crazy. Why why why are we using weird, awful looking genAI images for the digital menu when you already have very nice, professional, REAL photos of the food items? They also had a screen showing real, professionally made videos. So why the AI??? *screams eternally*
A dessert shop. At the top of the picture is a digital menu which displays AI generated images of menu items. At the bottom of the picture are ice cream coolers, which display real and professionally photographed/styled images of the same exact menu items.

If you don't understand how it works .. WHY ARE YOU WRITING AN ARTICLE IN DEFENSE OF IT?? Why are you writing an article at all about something you clearly don't understand? That would be like me writing an essay on fantasy football and having it published on a fantasy football newsletter.

This precisely!! I am always floored at these types of comments because... How did you function even three years ago? They act like it's been around since the dawn of time. Like they can't possibly fathom how they might write an email or produce a flyer on their own.

The HWA has an anti-AI policy. So irregardless, they should not be publishing this or promoting the AI writing coach app from the same person.

I read an ARC of this last summer and it immediately became my second favorite book of all time (sorry, still under Catch-22 for me - but clearly not for the Pulitzers, as it wasn't even a finalist!). An amazing achievement and well deserved.

@draft2digital.bsky.social has made the inane decision to charge a yearly fee to anyone that make less than $100 per year, indicating that such accounts may be AI slop. This punishes indie publishers in particular, but it especially punishes members of a shared revenue project. (1/5)

Just finished @jennykiefer.com's latest audio book Crafting For Sinners. What a great follow-up to This Wretched Valley! Also, as someone who has lived with T1 diabetes most of my life, loved that it was used as a key plot point, especially for a book in the horror genre. Bravo!

So often in media (maybe especially horror and thrillers) they get diabetes very wrong, and it's obviously being utilized as a device to accelerate the plot/motivate characters. And they treat insulin as if it does the opposite and highs as if they were lows. Crafting for Sinners gets it right 💕
Ruth was constantly battling her blood sugar, especially when funds ran low and she had to ration her insulin--then her blood sugar would hover too high, and she'd drop weight rapidly. She'd become an expert at dosing, at rationing, at knowing the smallest amount she could inject without going into ketoacidosis and having to trek to the ER. High blood sugar wouldn't kill her—at least not imminently, not like the lows, She lived by the adage, the phrase drilled into her head by every doctor since diagnosis: better to be high than low. But sometimes she pushed it too far, even if out of necessity.
