Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Chutney made from the last of this year’s tomatoes & a stout chutney made for Christmas & Boxing Day meats & cheeses. 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 04/10/2026One of those lovely days when we had breakfast outside, a morning tidying up the garden & an afternoon walk around a very busy Mercers Lake. Nothing very exciting - just a great day to be outside. #simplepleasures 010

Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 27/09/2026My 1st child was such an easy baby & toddler I could never understand what other parents were doing wrong. Then no.2 came along …! 101
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Twickenham is terrible with people up & down to the bar then toilet then beer goes everywhere when a Mexican Wave gets going! 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Went to the British Museum to see the Bayeux Tapestry today. Looooong queue (1hr 20mins after ticket scanned), great stewarding & stunning embroidery. I doubt anything I make will still be around in 1000 years! 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 14/09/20263 of the wonderful @gailmyerscough.co.uk birthday cards to be posted to special people this week. Not just cards but some great original prints on books & textiles. I have my eye on a sewing related cushion! 192

Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I am always reminded of my grandad, a Doncaster man, who would say that the last horse in the Leger came in with a snowball on its tail - the start of Autumn/ Winter. Currently sitting in sunshine in the garden this year though! 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Just about to turn the TV off & came across The Assembly featuring David Tennant joining in singing a favourite, “Sunshine on Leith”. Such joy from him & the young people involved! 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I think most people with children would have read the Roald Dahl book or watched the film or the stage musical. However, I think there was a definite steer from the judges as to what the adult Matilda would have become. Not sure I agreed with them at all! 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 21/08/2026A YouGov poll just now “Should Harry & Meghan return to the UK?” Yes/No/Don’t Know. How about “Don’t care” as an option?! 030
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Why stop there? Did she get her cycling proficiency? How about her 25m swim badge? We have the right to know! (Sarcasm) 241
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I have been listening to the discussion on #r4 re books & bookshops. Sure I can buy a book online if I know what I want but where is the fun in that when I can browse a bookshop and choose a book at my leisure, chat books with the assistant, find something I may not have considered. #bookshopsrule 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 14/08/2026After 50+ years that’s me out. Sad, sad day but accepting Mr Bezos & his business practices is a red line for me. 030
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 10/08/2026I have submitted my concerns to FSG. I’ll wait & see but not holding my breath. 020
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I’ve just had a message from my local pharmacy about booking flu jabs. We maybe experiencing a heat wave but winter is on its way! (And yes me & OH booked! #flujab 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 04/08/2026It is a Norwegian name common in ‘70s-90’s. Unusual but not unheard of in UK. 100
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Up early to pick brambles. Now 3 crumbles waiting to cool down for freezing. 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I think Sainsbury’s have cornered the market in escalator repair engineers. There is always at least one escalator out of action every time I’m in - frequently both and or a lift! If anyone is looking for careers advice repairing escalators & lifts is definitely an industry in need of engineers! 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Overheard conversation yesterday in Green Park, central London - “£5.45 for a bottle of water!? No wonder he wants No10 in the north!” 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 21/07/2026I had exactly same when trying to book for 18 the day before my daughter’s wedding in April. Still waiting for a response. Booked another (very lovely) restaurant who got the money & a generous tip & repeat visits. 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 01/07/2026I spent the weekend with a friend who is facing the possibility of her coercive, abusive husband will be let out early. She is angry & anxious. I understand the issue of prison places but the victims are bearing the brunt of this scheme. This is not supporting VAWG! 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 01/07/2026A lovely 9km walk around Outwood & Bransland Wood following Fancy Free Walks guide. The hedges were full of moths & butterflies. This is the only one ready for his close-up! The meadows buzzing with insects. 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 29/06/2026They do. And much as I look forward harvesting them, the earlier ripening does lead to wider concerns I think. 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 29/06/2026A few brambles beginning to turn deep red / black. The promise of jams & crumbles in the next few weeks! #brambles #jam #fruitcrumble 110
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 29/06/2026Deeds not words though. Let’s see how this eventually plays out. Delivery is more important. 050
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 21/06/2026The one thing I will praise Burnham for is taking on the Hillsborough cause. Should he become PM hopefully he will finish the job & get the Hillsborough Law passed. 100
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 21/06/2026WH Smith had little to recommend it by the time it was taken over but THJones have done absolutely nothing to improve the stores for the customer. My local one is closing & sadly won’t be missed by many. 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 20/06/2026It is very beautiful! I still have the hand embroidered invitation to my brother’s wedding - which he called off! 060
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 16/06/2026Not just digital. I overheard 2 young women discussing why they never give their real names to baristas in coffee shops. It never occurred to me until then that having your name called out in a coffee shop is an issue. 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 07/06/2026I remember the same. It was heartbreaking to see quilts covered because the parents were ashamed of the child dying of AIDS. And so moving! 120
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 02/06/2026Can we get back to his dodgy £5m & housing malarkey now? 030
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 27/05/2026After 11 years from new our old car became more expensive to keep on the road than it was worth so yesterday we finally gave in and bought an EV. I am pleased it is electric but as I have never driven an automatic it will be a steep learning curve! 020
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 26/05/2026It’s amazing how much “locker room banter” gets out of the locker room onto social media. 010
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 26/05/2026I am the same with fabric. My OH always says collecting the fabric & doing something with it are two different hobbies. 020
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 25/05/2026The National Theatre of Brent! The Celtic war cry remains long in my memory! 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 17/05/2026I do not like Wes Streeting & would quite happily dismiss him from any thought of Labour leader or PM. And then he says the one thing I actually want this country to do is- rejoin EU! 000
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Some years ago I saw this at a Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (sorry I have no other details). The truth of it stuck with me. 041
Jenny Barrett @jennybb.bsky.social · 15/05/2026I loved this book! A joy for anyone who enjoys beautiful, necessary things made by skilled people with a passion for their craft. 010
