But Shapiro confirmed to The New Republic that the decision to withdraw is now official. In joining eight other states that appear to be pulling out (Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, Illinois, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, and North Carolina), Pennsylvania becomes the first swing state that has flipped between the parties in recent presidential races to do so.

Began today’s gardening chores by popping a petal of this rose in my mouth. I bought as it was touted as edible that tasted slightly of pear. And it did! It was also an oddly substantial petal, almost fleshy but in a pleasant way, like a just ripe melon. I’m seriously considering candifying some.

One of my main tasks this spring clean is to go through all the boxes languishing in the basement since our last move, all the random stuff we didn’t need right away. In one, I found my ol’ pocket watch, which sat in the watch picket of my jeans ‘90s thru ‘00’s. (pregnancy put paid to that.)

Definitely been the year of plants hitting their stride in my yard. This one, a snowberry bush variant “Coral Berry” started as a twig three years ago, was pretty sure was smothered to death by leaves and the grass I hadn’t removed and yet this year grew to two by three feet & produced berries.

A small shrub in the upper right corner with large pink berries in a developing woodland garden front strip. Though called “Coral Berry” the berries have a more purple then orange cast. Gardener is not disappointed and will be planting a couple more as she tests plants before committing.

Finally getting back to quick mini paintings with fountain pen inks, seeing how many colors can be coaxed out of one ink with washes and bleach. For this odd owl I used Octopus Fluid's "Gryphon" a medium to dark brown when writing, depending on the paper. Chromatography notes in the alt text.

A color wash and line study of a barn owl with a human like face. Done with a single fountain pen ink, which writes the dark brown of the outline or redder and lighter like the bold lines of the wings.

It produced burnt orange, red and pink when used as a wash, depending on the concentration of the ink. It will bleed to blue at the edges of a wash with enough water on the paper. The yellow are created by applying bleach to the color laid down, a bright orange when bleach is diluted with water.
