Some days, surviving is enough. You don’t have to be productive, inspirational, or “back to normal.” Mourning asks for compassion, not perfection.

Grieving the family you wished you had is a real loss. It’s okay to mourn unmet needs, broken trust, and relationships that couldn’t become what you hoped. #grief

Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is stop asking yourself to be okay. Let today be what it is. Your feelings don’t need to be solved to deserve space. #grief

There’s a kind of grief that doesn’t look like grief. It looks like being fine. Being capable. Being the one everyone else relies on. I know that one well. Anyone else?

I just saw the word 'hope' presented as an acronym for "Hold On, Pain Evolves' and from the perspective of a griever I think this is just brilliant. When we stop running from the pain, we're able to lean into the possibility that through integration, the weight of it will one day feel lighter.

My sister-in-law would have been turning 44 the year she passed away, and today she would have turned 50. I was fortunate to have had almost 30 years worth of birthday celebrations with her, and today we are honouring her legacy by sharing fond memories of her. She is missed. ❤️‍🩹

Sometimes we only keep a door open because we aren’t ready to grieve the life that disappears when we close it.

You’re not too much. If your grief feels like too much for some people, that doesn’t mean YOU are too much. It speaks to their capacity, not to your worth.

Grief is not a sickness. It's one of the most human experiences we will ever have. The goal here isn't to "get over it" or "move on."

When you’ve lost someone you love and there is a connection that lives within you, the weight of grief isn't a sign that you're failing to move forward. It means that something beautiful mattered deeply. Recognizing that can make the day feel just a little brighter.

“I should have tried harder.” “Maybe it was my fault.” These thoughts can linger for years after loss. What would you say to a friend though, who was carrying that same guilt? #grief ❤️‍🩹

Self-care during mourning isn’t about fixing your grief. It’s about caring for the person carrying it - YOU. Drink some water. Step outside. Rest when you can. Even small acts of self-care matter.

Grieving? Try this framework: Don’t ask, “Am I healing?” Ask, “Am I carrying this differently than I was six months ago?” Healing often looks like more capacity.

Hey - You are allowed to have a good day while grieving. Joy is not a betrayal. Smiling does not mean you've forgotten. Living fully can be one of the ways we carry those we love forward.

You can miss someone deeply and still create moments of peace for yourself. Grief and joy aren’t opposites - they often learn to exist side by side.

Decided to have a very slow, unplanned and relaxing start to my Saturday. I’ve learned that you don’t have to earn rest by being strong and resilient. Grief and mourning are exhausting. If your body is asking you to slow down, listening is an act of self-respect.

Love and boundaries can exist together. Grief doesn’t always mean you want the relationship back. Sometimes it means you’re mourning what never was.

Trend worth changing: We celebrate resilience but rarely talk about rest. Grief is exhausting. Rest isn’t laziness - it’s part of surviving loss.

There is strength in allowing yourself to be changed by loss. Not because loss is good, but because your love was real. The people we mourn become part of the way we see the world.

Maybe you’re not exhausted because you’re doing too much. Maybe you’ve been bracing for so long. Holding your breath through hard moments. Clenching your jaw. Tensing your shoulders without realizing it. Preparing for the next thing, the next reminder, the next wave. That takes energy.

Just because others can’t see your loss doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Invisible grief deserves visible compassion - including from yourself. 💛

What I hate about grief is how unpredictable it is. It can be quiet for a while, and then suddenly appear without warning during the most ordinary moments. One minute everything feels fine, and the next, something small brings it all back.

Estrangement is a living loss. When someone is still alive but no longer part of your life, grief becomes invisible. Others may not understand why you’re mourning, but your heart knows. 💛 Has anyone else experienced this kind of loss?

The biggest mistake supporters make? Treating grief like it’s over because the funeral ended. Grief often gets louder after everyone else returns to normal. This is your check-in, if a check-in is needed right now. #grief

Some very Canadian things just happened at the Tim Hortons drive-thru. A car came in the wrong way so I let him in line. An unhoused person sitting by the speaker looked thirsty so Bry gave him $5 for a drink. When we drove up to the window, the guy who we had let in line had paid for our order.

I’m filling out a healthcare questionnaire, and even after all of these years past losing Declan and my 3 babies in miscarriages, I continue to be stilled by this question: “How many kids do you have?” It should be a simple response but for anyone who has lost a child, it never is.
Questionnaire asking how many children do you have.

Some days, honouring someone looks profound. Other days, it looks like making their favorite recipe or listening to a song they loved. Small acts of remembrance still count.
