FYI looks like you might be able to buy a replacement control panel (~£20), the cooker is designed to detach from the control unit for serving. Some have been sold on ebay, or might be able check with Russell Hobbs, seems to be a spares dept in Ireland. ie.russellhobbs.com/spare-parts

I understand the make / model may well have some problems which you’ve encountered. However, if you zoom in on the photo you can see the tell tale air pockets surrounding the raised buttons under the disposable thin plastic cover, also you can see the slightly raised edge at the panel edges.

It looks like it’s a case of he hasn’t removed the temporary shipping protective plastic off the buttons just yet… As it’s used it will wrinkle more making it look increasingly tatty, eventually they fall off 🤷🏻‍♀️

A Claymore mine - famous for it’s message ‘FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY’

The Claymore mine is a directional anti-personnel mine developed for the United States Armed Forces, invented by Norman MacLeod. Unlike a conventional land mine, the Claymore may be command-detonated (fired by remote-control), and is directional, shooting a wide range of steel balls into a kill zone. The Claymore can also be activated by a booby-trap tripwire firing system for use in area denial operations.

The Claymore fires steel balls out to about 300 ft (100 m) within a 60° arc in front of the device. It is used primarily in ambushes and as an anti-infiltration device against enemy infantry. It is also used against unarmored vehicles.

Many countries have developed and used mines like the Claymore. Examples include models MON-50, MON-90, MON-100, and MON-200 introduced by the Soviet Union and used by its successor Russia,[3] as well as MRUD (Serbia), MAPED F1 (France), and Mini MS-803 (South Africa).

My latest @newscientist.com cartoon
Panel 1: a large robot (composed of AI servers, network switches, storage arrays, and power distribution units) and a human are talking.

Professor "You don't want to destroy humanity do you, lLLM-A-9300x?"

Robot "Haha. What a silly question, Professor. I have no desires or feelings of my own whatsoever."

Professor (relieved)"Oh good."

Panel 2: they walk on. The robot continues "I am merely a tool of the company that created me. And that company, being composed of humans, will naturally have humanity's best interests at heart."

Panel 3: The professor is conspicuously quiet.
"Right?" says the Robot.
…
More silence

"Professor?"

The time limited nostalgia kicks in, akin to the sunlit uplands of Brexit with quasi Empire overtones🙄 Although he tries to skirt around it, similar ideas were kicked around & then later implemented by the Nazis… The idea that he wants some debate around this is an excuse to promote these ideas.

Jenn de Jeune @jennay.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
He imagines through a haze of nostalgia that there was a uniform concept of being English / British especially as the British Empire ground to a halt. Even within England what constitutes a cultural identity varies enormously over time as events shape society e.g. Industrial Revolution, WWI & WWII…

Well this garbage appears to be a light rework of some Aryan purity concepts mixed with a hefty dose of Empire nostalgia🤮 His brief skinhead period would appear to have been an increasingly accurate outward representation of his espoused ideas.

Before & After…
Before and after of The Ecce Homo (Latin: "Behold the Man") in the Sanctuary of Mercy church (Santuario de Misericordia) in Borja, Spain, is a fresco painted circa 1930 by the Spanish painter Elías García Martínez that depicts Jesus crowned with thorns. Both the subject and style were typical of traditional Catholic art.

While press accounts agree that the original painting was artistically unremarkable, its current fame derives from a partial attempt in 2012 to restore the fresco by Cecilia Giménez, then an 81-year-old untrained amateur artist and resident of Borja. Her restoration became at first a local and then international sensation. The intervention transformed the painting and was described as being similar to a monkey, and for this reason it is sometimes referred to as Ecce Mono (roughly Behold the Monkey, "mono" being Spanish for "monkey") or Monkey Christ. The work, which became an educational and tourist attraction, has not been re-restored.
