I thought the american oystercatchers would be gone by now but I learned they leave as late as November or they could be pairs migrating from further north OR some have even become year rounders along the sound. This was news to me but this pair wasn’t banded so I’ll never know. #LIS #Shorebirds

Tearing up watching the success in Chicago! Unclear how many of “my” 4 chicks fledged since attention was on more populous beaches, but there were still 2 chicks with Dad on July 27, then none 2 days later.

All 4 eggs hatched at the beach I frequent. This is the first time any eggs have hatched at this location since 2021. Send good vibes or prayers or atheist prayers or whatever you’ve got to the piping plovers who chose the beach at the bottom of the Housatonic to raise their young!

Happy international horseshoe crab day to all who celebrate. It was the 1st int’l HSC day event at “my” beach so I didn’t tell people we were doing it, just let the flyer speak for itself. 1 of the commissioners made cookies. It was a huge success! #InternationalHorseshoeCrabDay #horseshoecrab

Me too. Last week. But mine was only 14 and I only got to be his servant for 4 years. I thought I was done crying but then his ashes came yesterday. Then today I went to he groomer to cancel his appointment and they had to hold me up when they said all the staff loved him. Mad love. Pet tax

I am not v. familiar with corgis other than the one that lives with us, but I think he’s gigantic. Probably not fat. He was when we got him, but I think we got him to a reasonable weight that’s remained steady, but he’s still so big! Is that right #corgicrew? Last weigh-in he was about 32 LB
