An alleged unpublished IRI poll in Georgia exposed a major issue for Georgia's pro-western opposition. GD dominantly ahead with 36% (55% adjusted for no choice), while opposition is hardly anywhere to be seen. There are some omissions, such as Lelo which has been active and visible in the regions.

Sad news has reached me the Friedrich Naumann Foundation South Caucaus office in Tbilisi will close after 30 years of democracy promotion. Not because the democracy job is finished, but because the civic space for such work has been radically restricted by the Georgian Dream government.

Het fundamentele is dat er geen "linkse" coalitie te maken is omdat...juist.. de Nederlandse kiezer in grotere getale rechts stemt. Dat D66 gebrek aan standvastigheid tegenover de VDD heeft ontbroken in de coalitievorming is helemaal waar, maar dat had hier geen linkse coalitie van gemaakt.

Vandaag 33 jaar na de "val van Sochoemi", hoofdstad van Abchazië. Door Rusland gesteunde separatisten dwongen Georgische leger tot knieval bij het beleg van de stad. Het resulteerde in etnische moordpartijen en de vlucht van tienduizenden Georgiërs over de pas van de Kodorivallei naar Svaneti.
