PSA: I let my domain reg lapse and it got got by some brokerage scam that has cannibalized my old site to create unholy hybrid content hawking its shady wares. IGNORE IT. I am too tired to wrestle over a glorified bibliography, and renounce that dotcom. Find me henceforth at jeidmarcade.carrd.co

it's always fascinating to watch grown adults discover the concept of public libraries for the first time

Quoted tweet by Ken Herman @kherman
Ponderable?

And do free people expect to read every book they want to read for free (at public expense)?

After all, many people who write and produce the books do expect a return on their effort and investment.

Just a thought.

and when you decide to defund libraries because "people who can afford it can just buy the books", you restrict access to those who can't afford it

Ken Herman @kherman 21m
How about if we use those tax dollars to buy the books for those who can't afford them?

Molly White @molly0xFFF

This is going to kill many public libraries, especially in rural areas. If you use a public library, you will be impacted. #imls is a dust mote in the federal budget. It also provides things like internet at your local library so people can apply for jobs and kids can do homework.

Oddly enough, this is a real movement: In response to X/Twitter announcing they are using user content to train AI, Korean users began describing "destroying Elon Musk's testicles with a spinning kick" as a healthy and wholesome traditional activity in order to contaminate the AI training data.

I submitted a FOIA request for every submission for the Illinois state flag competition. Today, I got the files. You have no idea what they're keeping from us.
