There is always a @placardabuse.bsky.social angle. Note the (presumably) ICE vehicle with NY registration but no front license plate. 📸 @noahhurowitz.bsky.social

Sidewalk. noun. The area between the curb and the property line generally improved for pedestrians. (Just kidding. It’s parking in practice. 311-29239708)

my only thought is that if you pedantically read that double parking can only be when parked next to a vehicle - not in a moving lane along a curb without parking regulations. A separate bike lane violation could apply to some curb side unprotected bike lanes, but it still leaves more questions.

DSNY is saying it can't fine owners enough for failing to maintain vacant lots because law caps fines at $250 @carlmwilson.bsky.social will you introduce legislation to fix?

She is now tweeting through it showing she can’t read a TRO.

20th Precinct 📞 called me about this vehicle in a pedestrian island barely 4 minutes after I took this photo. officer played dumb asking how long ago it was when I observed it, then did nothing. 311-29228306 (also this vehicle got a moving violation for tint in January - it's still present)

Pothole be gone. Thank you @nyc-dot.bsky.social (even though you probably don't monitor this)

Talk about digging a hole deeper. The TRO was not lifted. Assembly really needs to expel this one.

math is hard, but 13 is definitely less than 25 and does not a quorum make.

Ok back to the general design - no need for ped + cyclist conflict. Flip the planted space and the pedestrian walkway and get the most from tree shade. The access road is one way. It should be 10 or 12’ wide. That extra space should enable comfortable side by side cycling

And don’t get me started about bollards protecting bollards.
160
Jehiah @jehiah.cz · 03/10/2026
The next set of bollards is somehow worse. You are supposed to do this while turning? Cyclists coming the other way are going to overshoot because they have to straighten up for the bollard before finishing a turn.

On paper is is a narrow, but ok ish bike lane. But how many can fit through here at once? One. On the busiest bike path in NYC.

Jehiah @jehiah.cz · 03/10/2026
Let’s talk about this brand new, but extremely bad infrastructure design on the Hudson River Greenway I want to call your attention to the bollard placement towards the end, and how the vehicle lane is somehow still wide enough for a two trucks to illegally park

I try not to post when I’m mad at something very specific Today I’m mad this SUV which parks illegally in the truck loading zone every day, backed up into what is now pedestrian space Today, that same behavior blocked DOT contractors from painting this pedestrian space.

Hello from the Hudson River Greenway where I’m finally getting some exercise after not much biking over the past two months.

For every “we can”t” from DOT, there is often a factual proof that in fact you can. Today’s proof: we CAN take a lane from the west side highway.

Today's NYC City Council Transportation Committee hearing on e-bike and e-scooter safety and regulations clocked in at 7 hours and 20 minutes. Are we ready for a Vision Zero oversight hearing in 4 weeks?

Still no appetite to rigorously ticket cars on sidewalks The most black and white of black and white parking issues. Mamdani + Tisch need to appoint someone to clean up parking enforcements act. No more skipping vehicles. No more looking the other way at vests on dashboard. No more corruption

30 days for both violating social media policy, 15 days for failing to maintain insurance and registration on the vehicle. Why they got combined we'll never know. nypdonline.org/files/941208...

wait - it get's worse the more you read. This officer had so many unpaid tickets the vehicle registration lapsed? Then he suddenly had Alabama plates out of nowhere? It came to light because he crashed it and there were more unpaid tickets?

Jehiah @jehiah.cz · 22/09/2026
BMW with Wyoming transporter plates found a loophole - park illegally in a metered zone every day, never pay a ticket and they never go into judgement. Never gets towed. $3,370 in fines. Zero in judgement.

In other enforcement related news the MTA "Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement program" began issuing summonses on Bridges and Tunnels on July 30th. (only when work is in effect - because speeding outside of that is still ok 🤦) $50 1st offense, $75 2nd, $100 3rd+ www.mta.info/agency/bridg...

I might have misread contracts. Renewal of existing 1,023 cameras with addition of 1,000 new cameras via Hayden and a purchase of 1,000 new cameras via Seon for a total of 3,023 bus enforcement cameras. Good news (If i'm reading this right) - more deployments coming www.mta.info/document/186...

MTA says camera enforcement is live on "more than 2,000 busses" aka 1/3rd their fleet. Did i miss that they awarded a new contract for more bus camera enforcement? I thought the two contracts tapped out at 1,000 cameras each.

While we are at it - despite a legally binding goal for building protected bike lanes, why does the Mayors Management Report still not list a 50 miles/yr goal?
010
Jehiah @jehiah.cz · 18/09/2026
This has to be a typo right? The Mayors Management Report says that the desired direction for annual cost of CitiBike membership is UP??

How to avoid “phone use” tickets in NYC: A: commit fraud and get a “medical exemption“ B: 5% limo tint @tonysimone.bsky.social this needs to be addressed because dark tint slows driver reaction times and creates a hazard for cyclists and pedestrians who can’t ensure a driver is yielding

The more you zoom in, the more gaps there are. Why do people complain about parking when we have 2,989,413 mostly free on-street parking spaces?
020
Jehiah @jehiah.cz · 17/09/2026
What if we keep most parking in NYC free - and when we do add meters, we do just a few hours a day and don't enforce it. Surely that will solve the demand for parking in NYC right??

Jehiah @jehiah.cz · 17/09/2026
Under Mamdani no change in how NYPD tickets vehicles on the sidewalk or responds to illegal parking reports. Steps away from a school? Doesn’t matter. 311-28990342

I'm extremely frustrated that DOT took 5 days to inspect this location, then decided "yeah - no bike lane is fine - contractor is in compliance". The permit (and law) require a temporary bike lane in this situation. It's not in compliance.

"THE PERMITTEE MUST CREATE A TEMPORARY BIKEWAY AROUND THE WORK ZONE" ConEd contractor on 11th Ave has failed to provide a temporary bike lane as required by DOT permits for at least 4 days now Permit M022026252A39 reported as 311-28931137 back on Saturday

🪦 RIP Paul Vogel ( @d00rz0ne.bsky.social ) After seeing Paul post repeatedly about how TLC actually fined drivers obstructing in bike lanes I started engaging in filing 311 reports in 2015. That was 1,600 reports ago.

Illegal window tint? This TLC licensed vehicle failed a vehicle inspection at a TLC Inspection station on June 12th then magically passed inspection 3 days later. It is still tinted. Under a 2017 state law every inspection is required to check for illegal tint.

As others have noted - this style doors looks deadly for cyclists - especially when combined with lack of mirror. @tonysimone.bsky.social @ebottcher.bsky.social @shaunabreu.bsky.social we need to legislate that vehicles used as taxis and FHV (autonomous or not) have sliding doors only.

Saw these two drivers in a pedestrian island - realized they were using it as a turn lane. When traffic started to flow I saw another FHV try to follow their pattern so I went to stand on the pedestrian island to standoff with the driver. I won. (Video next)

And a month prior a traffic enforcement agent wrote "front plate plastic cover on plate" when issuing a summons $65 Fines clearly aren't working @tonysimone.bsky.social @ebottcher.bsky.social - why don't fines increase for repeat violators? Let's amend state law - specifically VTL §237

Jehiah @jehiah.cz · 10/09/2026
Yet a different MTTF (Manhattan Traffic Task Force) enforcement officer wrote this when issuing a ticket. "Plate last 2 letters covered with some plastic reflection tape. Unreadable - mutilated"
