So revenues need to increase 4x to break even, and 10x to realize a 30% ROI. But that only covers the compute layer. Presumably, they would like to generate earnings from the application layer. My call: they'll run out of other people's money before the stack is profitable.

If a President is convicted of treason, he's not automatically removed from Office. That still requires an act of Congress, namely conviction in the Senate. There is a Federal treason statute, but that's never been tested because Presidents haven't committed treason before this one came along.

This claim that my ignorance is an exercise in "cultural cachet" is itself performative. I didn't reject this song to impress others. There is no obvious point of contact between it and my life. I live in the Northeast, read newspapers, and follow sports. Why would a country song penetrate that?

Trump is too fscking stupid to understand it, but this is why America can run a trade deficit. We have one because we spend more than we earn. We can do that thanks to capital inflows. A trade deficit is a privilege, not a weakness.

Liberal democracy's autocratic opponents continually justify themselves with borrowed democratic notions: elections, popular sovereignty, national self-determination, etc. None offer a compelling new universal principle of legitimacy ... because there is none.

MAGA is wrong about literally everything. If marrying young, foregoing higher education, and adopting traditional sex roles were the recipe for marital success, then these results would be completely flipped.

In theory, Trump enters this summit with more coalition support than Xi, but that advantage is under strain. US allies increasingly doubt that Washington will defend coalition interests. Trump has shown that he'll exchange long-term strategic positions for attention-grabbing headlines.

I'm in the middle of David Kynaston's history of post-war Britain from 1946-1979. So far, he's published more than 4,000 pages up to July 1966. He has three more books planned to complete the 1960s. To finish the project, he'll probably have to write another 8 or 9 volumes. He's 75 years old.

The People's Republican Party wants to ban diesel exports. That will (maybe) lower diesel prices in the near term. Gulf Coast refiners are running at 97%. An export ban will create a supply glut, but why does Trump think US refineries will keep running at capacity after he crushes their margins?

I doubt AI will end human life, but at the same time, I want guardrails. The law needs to be changed so this is crystal clear: if AI agents harm people or inflict economic damage, then the owners of those agents must be liable for damages. And, in the case of gross negligence, criminally liable
