Why didn't the seabed search find MH370's wreckage? Many people say, "Well, ocean is vast." That's true. But the evidence in hand constrains where the plane could be. If we search there, and it's in the ocean, we're sure to find it. Is it worth the effort? www.deepdivemh370.com/p/defining-t...

The ocean is vast -- but the range of possible places that MH370 could be is small enough to search in its entirety

ADS-B data has at altitude 17,325 ft, ground speed 590 kt, vertical rate −15,360 ft/min (−152 kt). That comes out to 609 kt total speed through the air; with the speed of sound about 622 kt, that would be Mach 0.98. Granted, I don't know what the winds were doing...

I made this video based on the data available on the Flydubai flight that almost crashed. The data is noisy and drops out, but this tries to use physical models to be consistent with data in a plausible way. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoC1...

paragraph from NYT: "President Trump led the crowd in a pledge 'to the greatest president in the history of America' and made them promise to vote on Nov 3, saying that people who do not vote 'go to hell.'"

As someone who's been working in media for 40 years & tried hard to publish stories on Trump (sometimes successfully) I think a big part of it is a lack of imagination. So many editors still can't understand how dark Trump was/is. Being basically good, they can't comprehend truly bad people.

Another factor may be that just around that date YouTube changed the way they count views, such that it inflates the view count. I posted a video around then that got 30 percent more views then the previous one, but half as many "engaged views." So that would dilute the $ per view.

Oh, you can call people "evil"? Then why don't we do that? Why don't we apply that terminology to people who use their official positions to murder in cold blood, to protect pedophiles, to let aid recipients starve and die of treatable diseases, to accept bribes, etc etc etc?

I remained profoundly baffled by the way that individual members of the media, even those that are personally appalled by Trump, have continued to accept a framing that normalizes him -- e.g. in painting the core issue of the 2024 pres election as inflation rather than the toppling of democracy

That said, one could try to source satellite imagery from that morning and run it through AI. I'm doubtful anything would be seen, or if there's even imagery of remote open ocean. But if someone wanted to look into it I'd be happy to hear what they found!

Yes, it was called Tomnod; it would up generating a ton of false positives and triggered the creation of a group of people who were each absolutely convinced that they'd spotted the wreckage. So, in the final balance, I think the effort was a failure, and nothing like it has been tried since

Why were there even negotiations, that could fall apart? What was there that urgently needed to be negotiated? Trump signed a comprehensive trade deal w Canada during his first term. Maybe the real issue here is that Trump is creating problems out of thin air, because he's a chaos agent.

Not many people can say that they've used cutting-edge AUV technology to scan 5000 sq miles of deep ocean seabed, or that they've found a sunken airliner lost for decades. Tony Romeo has done both. And he thinks he can repeat the feat with MH370. www.deepdivemh370.com/p/how-well-f...

He should be impeached for not slapping "America" on the biggest lake. Ontario (sorry, America) is the smallest, what the hell? Also, "Great" is right there, why not call it "Great Lake America"? or "Lake America Great Again?" Second impeachment for missing the opportunity. Traitorous.

Surprised that what isn't mentioned right at the top of these stories is that a) Trump has no legal authority to randomly & capriciously apply such tariffs, according to Supreme Court b) Even if he did, these aren't "negotiations," because they can't result in an agreement anyone could count on.

I don't know if we need a theory; the reason that many ordinary Americans are furious is that they see all to clearly what the fancy commentator class simply cannot bring themselves to believe (or admit). What we need are leaders willing to articulate the truth & channel the rage.

So politicians say that everyone must work, it's a moral necessity: getting up out of bed every day & contributing economically is essential to moral character. When in fact, they push that idea so that they & their descendants won't ever have to work. And anyone who disagrees is a communist

Low taxes aren't enough. They also need their portfolios to keep growing. That means less regulations, like safety rules, for businesses. Lower wages. Worker dependence on company health care, etc. In general, precarity. Above all: the idea that everyone must work. (eg new medicare requirements)

Generational wealth means your kids, & their kids, won't have to work either. This is the simple point of decades of US politics. Cutting taxes on the rich, & eliminating estate taxes, so generational wealth is easier to acquire & keep. So rich & their descendants won't ever have to work.

Jeff Wise @jeffwise.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
What many non-wealthy Americans don't understand is that when you're rich, having $ is your job. You don't have to get up early, do what people tell you, etc. -- just having big numbers in your portfolio means that money comes rolling in. That's it. That's all you have to do. Forever.

The Trash Theory of American Politics: There is a significant electoral constituency for which Trump’s stupidity, vulgarity, and racism are big assets, because if a guy like that can be president, you too have permission. The irrational hatred of Fauci is basically the flip side of this.
