Found in this issue. Took many months of international shipping, and calling in a favor to get it on my scan bed.

The above posted link contains (what *should* be) a Blu-ray compliant encode of the movie, along w/ a case insert that if printed 1:1 and precisely trimmed, should allow you to create a functional physical copy.

40 years ago today. Personally, Robotech: The Movie is more than the sum of its parts. As a film, it's...not great. But as a landmark of the burgeoning anime market outside of Japan at the time, it's a significant indicator of the growing pains the business endured, to bring us where we are in 2026.

This Saturday (7/25) is the 40th anniversary of Robotech: The Movie's limited test run premiere. To celebrate, I'll be dropping an encode from a Domesday Duplicator capture of the PAL LaserDisc, along with a brand new HD recut, utilizing the disc's audio.

Going to wind up w/ 2 physical copies of the Rave Racer 30th Anniversary Remix over the next 2 (or so) weeks from both PlayAsia, and a proxy service. If anyone is looking to buy one from a US based seller at cost, I'll have one available.

The latest installment of "The Anime Business" is live, and it's another banger. Members only, but well worth the $$$. Personally see this series every bit as important to the anime realm, as what Frank Cifaldi, Jeremy Parish, and others are doing for documenting video gaming's roots.

As our small team of QC Discord members were busy ripping the content of the discs for better accuracy in reporting issues, I factored in the task of an alternate (re)design of the case insert for the TV Series, which better represents what exactly is *in* it.

Took time, patience, a fair amount of luck, and a little $$$, but I've managed to get a PAL LaserDisc copy of Robotech: The Movie passed through a Domesday Duplicator. Not *perfect* (at least visually), but it didn't need to be. The audio however, is what makes it all worthwhile...

In an effort to get a few more seats filled, I can say this much: 1986 / Uncensored / Animated / Japanese language w/ separately projected subtitles. Have personally seen this 35mm print, will be worth the trip if you're able. And that's only 1 of 4! thegaptheatre.com

Decent scan of the sleeve. Had to repair a large section that appeared to be chomped out of the upper back. Curiously, there are very few details about the cast. Nothing on the sleeve, and nothing in the brief closing credits. ANN doesn't have any info either.

Hi-Fi capture of the English Language Dub for Noel's Fantastic Trip (1985), from a retail tape, synced to the Japanese LaserDisc. Stumbled across a *really* good reason to digitize this, but I have to wait a little while for that to play out...

As Mike Toole often says: "Oh wait...there's more". Sasuke ropes you in by consistently one upping itself. NOTHING on four legs in this show is safe, and the casual nature it takes in dealing w/ topics like...idk, kidnapping, child endangerment, and slavery are truly unique. Total shock & awe.

072

Jefferson Taylor @jeffersontaylor.com · 19/10/2025

Can't imagine it was the show's original intent, but for anyone fond of "Anime Hell" convention showings, it's precisely *that*, spanned across 3 discs, running 792 minutes. I live for this stuff.

Jefferson Taylor @jeffersontaylor.com · 19/10/2025

For anyone who has been around for while, the included dub (of somewhat mysterious origin) gives the show a feeling of something we would have discovered on a late night/early morning cartoon Network programming block in the early '00s, sitting around, bullshitting w/ friends.

Jefferson Taylor @jeffersontaylor.com · 19/10/2025

Sasuke's notorious exploding puppy meme only scratches the surface of AnimEigo's surprisingly engrossing Blu-ray release. Looks sharp, sounds fantastic, and moves at a pace that'll keep you saying "Okay, just *one* more...for reals this time". www.mediaocd.com/product-page...

Years of softly searching for this pinup have paid off. Found in an issue of Fanroad from 1988. Scanned & masked the single horizontal crease. Uncertain if it was ever printed larger than 10x14, but know that it was featured on the AnimEigo VHS/Riding Bean Combo LD, along w/ the JP VHS clamshell.
