Dammit, I messed up. My internet went down, unusual on its own, but seemed to be an external issue. But as part of my troubleshooting in pfSense I hit the "Release [IP Lease]" button to try and reset the interface, didn't do anything, so I left it in hopes my ISP would sort out their issues […]

That's cute. Went to IKEA and they had these fake sticker cards in some of their staged areas. I really apreciate how much they replicated a Presto (transit) and TPL (Library) card without actually cloning them.

Oh, cool, TIL Yahoo sold Flickr in 2018 to a family owned, non-VC company. I Might have to look into using it again. Especially given how absolute garbage Mastodon is at image hosting, and how few options I've had aside from Google Photos to share images here in decent quality.

I love seeing diplomatic license plates in the wild. Sadly this is just a Consular, I have yet to see the elusive Diplomat plate (CDx). I've found mixed information on whether the last letter denotes the country it is assigned to, but would love to know what D is if that is the case.

The daily incremental backups to my tapes has been working just fine without any issues for the last few days, so maybe the issue is a bad tape and not with the drive itself. The issue is that I feel like multiple different tapes caused the drive to freak out. More testing is necessary.

Jeff Higgins @jeff.higgy.social.ap.brid.gy · 26/04/2026
One of my favorite statistics from the drive, Lifetime Meters of tape processed, so that is 6,318,826 M of tape. And this value was close to 0 when I got the drive, so in just 3 months it has gone through the incomprehensible amount of tape. For some context Canada is only 5,566,000 M across.
