The CBA forced the FO to conclude that JB’s contract isn’t worth what he brings to the court. I still disagree, but the FO made the call, and we must move forward. I hope JB kills it in Philly and makes the Celtics regret trading him. Unless, of course, if they’re against the Celtics

It’s clear that the reasons for trading JB were primarily financial and secondarily about his basketball fit in relation to how his contract limits the team I liked hearing that JB had been aware about the FO’s intentions (at least to a point) I still hate that JB had to be traded

JT's, Pritchard's, and D-White's numbers might increase with as their usage does, but it still feels like rim pressure (especially at the POA) remains a concern. If it was an issue last season, replacing JB with PG and betting on the others' increased usage does not feel enough

I do see your point. He does have a strong voice as the sole franchise pillar in the eyes of the FO. But the outcome just doesn’t strike me as a sign that JT approved/urged it or knew that he could’ve prevented it. More of that he just stayed out of the FO’s way, which he’s said he prefers doing

I’d expect that JT, like JB, was given an incomplete story. I’m now past expecting that FOs are 100% transparent lol. I don’t want to speculate on what he approved of, but I’m expecting that the FO would now be more inclined to keep him more involved than usual on all changes

I’m in the camp of being disappointed in Brad and expecting him to work to regain my trust as a fan, but I have to also clearly say that I’m not where you are in (or have been) I liked Brad before, and I don’t see him as mediocre or a failure bc of his place in the sociopolitical system of the NBA

I don’t pay enough attention to the CBA/financial side of the NBA, but they should take up bigger space in the discourse involving JB. It’s not just JB’s flaws that swayed the FO; it’s also the FO’s view of those flaws in relation to his contract. Doesn’t make me feel any better about the trade

I get what you mean. It’s why I chose to say “look forward” instead of “excited.” I can’t discount that there are objective reasons to defend PG’s fit with the Cs, but that won’t make it easier to accept losing JB for that much of a return. Only winning games can mitigate the disappointment

Eventually, there will be a time to look at what PG, Mitch Rob, and Conley can offer for the Celtics. If they all stay healthy (that’s a big “if”), then there are parts of their fit that are interesting to look at. But it’ll be very difficult to have that conversation any time soon.
