F-off Putin, Russia and Russians deserve better than you. What a shame and a shambles. We all know this means many many Ukrainians too and the lives of their families and loved ones changed forever. Endless war must stop or be stopped by a greater effort to impose a no-fly-zone over Ukraine

Extreme heat is hitting communities across the country, yet Andy Burnham has been bafflingly silent. After the UK’s hottest summer on record, we need to see far more action. We need cross-party talks to protect Britain from worsening extreme weather.

Officially, the water industry in England is regulated. Practically, it's unregulated. There's no difference between what it does under the eye of the Environment Agency and what it would do if the EA did not exist. The EA is completely useless, by design. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

This is no minor detail. It's a key safeguard in a worl where we're resource poor, changing systems with too few staff to meet demand. Mistakes will happen, must be monitored, remedied at speed, to stop them embedding in cover-up. Perfect's not possible but best effort in good faith. We need that.

This is a stark warning: the climate emergency is here, yet the Government moves at a snail’s pace. It's time for a national strategy: funding cool hubs for vulnerable groups, mandating cooling and ventilation in new homes, supporting drought-affected farmers and heat-proofing NHS facilities.

This is the moment for Andy Burnham's new government to replace the water regulator as our Water Authority. That's what the Emergency needs to mandate water companies to stop leaks and sewage, support farmers with engineering muscle for water storage in ponds, lakes and reservoirs and EA in nature.

Here's to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Happy Birthday America!
Happy birthday America!

“Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” What a mission statement! An aspiration we can all get behind.

The relationship between our two countries hasn’t always been smooth, but it endures because of our shared commitment to the fundamental values of democracy, liberty and the rule of law.

Because of our shared belief that everyone – no matter their background, no matter where they start – should have the chance to build a good life for themselves and their families.

Even though these are tough times – and those ideals can feel very distant right now – I know our relationship will endure. I know better days lie ahead, and we can reach them together.

So here’s to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Cheers!

“If Trump follows through with this, Keir Starmer must immediately recall Parliament. The Prime Minister must also withdraw US access to UK bases now.

The Prime Minister must come to Parliament, set out the legal case for letting the US use UK bases for strikes on Iran and give MPs a vote. He must not let Trump drag Britain into another prolonged war in the Middle East.
Ed Davey quote which reads:
No matter how the Prime Minister tries to redefine offensive as defensive, letting the US use UK bases for strikes on Iran is a slippery slope.

He must not let Trump drag Britain into another prolonged war in the Middle East.

Starmer must come to Parliament, set out the legal case in full, and give MPs a vote.
